Radio Shack to stop selling T-Mobile products, instead sell Verizon Wireless

Effective September 14, 2011, Radio Shack will stop selling T-Mobile products and services and begin selling Verizon Wireless postpaid and prepaid products and services on September 15.  Radio Shack has 4,300 retail stores nationwide and believes that by carrying the nation’s largest wireless carrier’s products, Radio Shack will be able to offer more products to their customers.  T-Mobile customers may be disappointed that they will soon not be able to purchase products from Radio Shack, but on the other hand, I am sure Verizon Wireless customers are happy to see another option when it comes to purchasing smartphones, featurephones, or…

Mozilla is building it's own open mobile OS

There’s a lot of argument over just how “open” Google is with it’s Android OS, and now Mozilla is doing something about it. To combat the part-open-part-closed Android Mozilla will be creating it’s own mobile OS for smartphones and tablets currently named Boot to Gecko (B2G). Boot to Gecko will use the Gecko engine that powers Firefox to power devices and apps. G2B all run on part of the Android kernel, but it seems it will be just enough for the system to boot into the new OS. Unlike Google’s Android, B2G will have be completely open sourced. Verizon Wireless cuts pricing on Motorola Xoom, now available for $499 on contract

Possibly because of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE’s likely launch this Thursday, the Motorola Xoom with 3G connectivity on Verizon Wireless received a $100 price cut.  Previously, the 3G tablet sold for $599 on a two year contract, but now you can purchase it for $499 on a two year contract.  The Motorola Xoom WiFi price also received a hefty price cut a few weeks ago, so perhaps it is simply time in the life cycle of the Motorola Xoom to drop in price.  There is another possibility that Motorola is about ready to launch the 4G LTE…
