Hulu to reach 1 million paid users by the end of summer

Hulu’s paid service has officially reached the 1 million mark according to the company’s second quarter progress report. This milestone was reached well in advance to the company’s initial expectations. “We have always believed that our path towards creating a special company lay in our ability to delight our customers. The key to delighting content owners rests in the economics, and Hulu Plus is already revealing our ability to compensate content owners at the high-end of the market for a given body of content," wrote CEO Jason Kilar on the company's blog. Kilar went on to say that the Hulu…

Verizon tiered data plans go live today

We’ve known for a while now that Verizon Wireless ultimately wanted to move towards tiered data to alleviate the strain power users cause on the network and also provide “more options” to their customers.  Essentially, the most common plan for most users will likely be the 2GB of data per month for $30.  If you take a look at the graphic above, you’ll notice that there are some other options available in terms of data, with the highest amount of data one can purchase is 12GB a month.  I doubt most people ever break 4-6GB of data per month, but…

Google+ opening up to businesses

Even though it's still in its infancy, one of the things that makes Google+ stand out from Facebook and Twitter are the lack of brands on the network. Facebook is full of businesses that push updates to the News Feed by default. If you list Pawn Stars as a show you like on your profile, you had better believe you'll be getting updates about it. Twitter is also believed to be working with businesses to automatically push tweets to Twitter feeds as a way to boost revenue. Google+ doesn't have a way for businesses to interact with the public just…

An interesting device from Motorola recently passed through the FCC to gain the necessary Bluetooth, WiFi, CDMA, and LTE certifications.  The purported Xoom LTE device measures out at 259mm in length and 166mm width, which is slightly larger and shorter than the original Motorola Xoom (249.1mm by 167.8mm).  Many believe the FCC listing is revealing the upcoming Motorola LTE on Verizon Wireless, but the slight difference in measurements gives credence to the fact that we could be looking at the Motorola Xoom 2.  Undoubtedly, the Motorola Xoom 2 would feature a 4G LTE radio on board to be compatible with…
