Verizon confirms tiered data plan rates and start date

It has been no secret that Verizon was planning to scrap unlimited data plans. Verizon previously confirmed this would be the case, but did not confirm the pricing or other specific details that were leaked a while ago. Any hope of a last minute change of plans by Verizon has been dashed. The wireless carrier has gone on the record with FierceWireless stating the new tiered data plans will begin on July 7. If you currently have an unlimited data plan with Verizon, you won’t be affected by the change. Even existing customers that renew their contract after July 7…

Rumor: HTC Status and the LG Thrill 4G could launch on AT&T later this month

Both the HTC Status and the LG Thrill 4G on AT&T have already been publicly announced, but were not given exact pricing or release information.  However, according to a leaked screenshot, there is a good chance both smartphones will drop in July as opposed to August or early September.  While we aren’t fortunate enough to know the exact launch date, we will likely hear that important piece of information from coming leaks and rumors.  All that’s left to figure out is pricing for the two Android smartphones.  Personally, I believe the HTC Status will launch for $99 or possibly even…

Netflix is expanding to 43 more countries in Latin America

After it’s previous expansion into Canada Netflix has announced that it will soon be expanding into another 43 countries. Those countries are all throughout the Americas, from Mexico to North America to Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. When Netflix launches in those countries users will be able to watch content in English, Spanish, or Portuguese, depending on which they prefer to use. There won’t be any discs, though. Just like Canada those 43 other countries will only have access to streaming content. Rolling out disc services to each country would make the expansion much, much slower, not to…

Sprint Photon 4G is now coming soon

Model Number: http://admintell.napco.com/ee/images/uploads/gadgetell/Sprint_Photon_4G_coming_soon.jpeg

A few weeks ago Motorola and Sprint announced the manufacturer’s most recent phone for the third-place carrier, the Photon 4G. The Sprint Photon 4G was announced as coming sometime this summer, with nothing more firm than that. Here’s an image that shows the release should be sometime in the near future. The image simply shows the Photon 4G with a “coming soon” badge near it. The image seems to come from a Sprint promotions website or document. Either way, there’s the words “Photon 4G” right next to the words “coming soon.” It makes sense since we are currently in Summer…

Rumor: Upcoming Verizon sale discounts iPhone 4 and HTC Thunderbolt

This next story is fresh from the rumor mill. Verizon supposedly has a couple things planned for the near future. The first addition to Verizon's flagship is a redesigned website. We all like those right? The second part of this rumor is that Verizon is going to discount both the iPhone 4 and the HTC Thunderbolt as part of an upcoming promotion. VzBuzz has a screen capture of the new Verizon website that lists the 16GB iPhone 4 for $150.99. The price of the HTC Thunderbolt will be reduced to zero. As usual, these prices will require a contract. It's…

To say that Skype for Mac 5 in unpopular would be a bit of an understatement. The latest update to version 5.2 won’t bring you back to the Skype 4 interface, but it will add some needed features. Those include the ability to share your screen during group video chat, and an easier way to see video call when Skype is in the background. Foursquare app for Windows Phone updated, comes as a "total rebuild"

While the Foursquare app is not new for Windows Phone, the version that is currently available has recently been updated. And judging from what we have read thus far, it looks like anyone using Foursquare on Windows Phone 7 will want to fire up the Marketplace and get the update. In terms of what was changed, according to the team over at Foursquare, this comes as “a total rebuild of the app, with a ton of new features.” Of course, they were also quick to point out that the features that you “know and love” will remain in place. HP leaks suggest Pre 3 is coming in the fall and 64GB TouchPad is coming next month

We have already seen HP launch the Veer smartphone and the 16GB and 32GB TouchPad tablet (here in the US) and well, it looks like the timeframe of the 64GB TouchPad and Pre 3 have been revealed. Sadly, we are looking at nothing more than general timeframes, however the Pre 3 has been tipped to arrive in the fall and the 64GB TouchPad in August. And in addition to the 64GB TouchPad, it also looks like an AT&T 4G capable tablet will be arriving next month. Otherwise, it appears as if a glossy white TouchPad (possibly with a 1.5GHz Qualcomm…

Apple iPhone insurance will be offered by AT&T beginning July 17th

It looks like AT&T will soon be offering standard mobile insurance for the iPhone very soon. And this will be the standard insurance that you can get with other AT&T branded phones, in other words, it covers against the goodies such as theft, loss and damage (even accidental). The plan will be available beginning July 17th and looks like it will set you back $4.99 per month. And that $4.99 monthly fee is in addition to the deductible, which looks to be $125 for the iPhone 4. And while this sounds like good news, there are a good amount of…
