200 additional Blockbuster stores will close

More bad news has struck Blockbuster. Dish Network, the chain’s new owner, will be closing 200 additional stores. According to The Wrap, the closures will leave close to 1,500 Blockbuster stores still standing. Dish isn't necessarily closing the stores in an effort to shake things up or save money. The reason for the closures is due to expiring leases. Dish had three months to work out lease agreements with each remaining store's landlords. Some of the landlords decided not to renew Blockbuster's lease, so those stores will close. Dish Network will still look into opening new Blockbuster stores in the…

Fake Apple stores being investigated

This past week spawned a very interesting story about fake Apple Stores were discovered in the city of Kunming in China. These stores were designed to have the traditional Apple Store layout and appearance, but are allegedly not associated with Apple in any way. In response to the original report that blew the whistle on this operation, authorities will be investigating the stores in Kunming. T-Mobile brings tablet experience to Los Angeles Angels baseball games

Google purchases facial recognition technology company

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Google had acquired a company called Fridge that specializes in creating small social networks comprised of select groups. Google will use what Fridge has developed to eventually bring groups to Google+. Google made another acquisition recently as well. Pittsburgh Pattern Recognition, otherwise known as PittPatt has joined to Google empire. PittPatt creates facial recognition software that can be used to identify people in photos and videos. The myTouch 4G Slide will be released to the general public in the United States on July 27 for the standard price of $199.99 after a two-year contract and a $50 mail-in rebate.
