The Nexus S is finally coming to a third carrier. After launching onT-Mobile, and later coming to Sprint, the Nexus S will finally be coming to AT&T this Sunday. The AT&T Nexus S will make its way to Best Buy stores on July 25. The phone will cost $99 on a two-year contract, and can be preordered right now in store or at Best Buy Mobile’s website. Typically with Nexus phones there’s an option to buy it unlocked without a contract. There’s no mention of that here, but it would be great if there was such an option in the… Full Story » | Written by Shawn Ingram for . | Comment on this Article »
Today’s free app through the Amazon Appstore is SwiftKey X, an awesome keyboard for Android that makes virtual typing easier and quicker. The SwiftKey X app normally costs $3.99 in the Android Market, but for the next 12 hours or so, Amazon will be giving away the app for free through its Appstore. Unfortunately, the version Amazon has for free is not compatible with tablets, only with Android smartphones running Android 2.1 or higher. Even if you are perfectly content with Swype or your stock Android keyboard, I would recommend at least giving SwiftKey X a whirl, especially since it… Full Story » | Written by Natesh Sood for . | Comment on this Article »
We have some good news for T-Mobile G2x owners, as it looks like the official Gingerbread update is already rolling out to devices everywhere. Apparently, LG announced the software would come out this summer, in a forum post earlier today, and now we are already seeing reports of users downloading Android 2.3.3 or GRI40. Perhaps there was a bit of misunderstanding between the employee who wrote the post and the person who gave the order. In any event, the update is reportedly 178MB, and you can download the update using LG’s proprietary update software. If you own a G2x on… Full Story » | Written by Natesh Sood for . | Comment on this Article »

Just as we expected, Bell officially launched the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G today much to the anticipation of excited Canadian customers. The price of the Galaxy S II 4G is $169.95 on a three year agreement, which is probably going to be the most popular option given the expensive price of the other options. Without a contract, the Galaxy S II 4G costs $599.95, on a one year contract it costs $574.95, and on a two year contract it costs $549.95. However, due to the phone’s high-end nature, being locked down to a three year contract may not be… Full Story » | Written by Natesh Sood for . | Comment on this Article »

The purported Motorola Defy+ features the bands 850 / 1900 / 2100 giving rise to the possibility it will launch with AT&T. Even though it is the Defy’s successor, it is only a mild upgrade as only the OS and processor are improved over the original. The original Defy runs Android 2.2, whereas the Defy+ is going to launch with Android 2.3.3, which is the expected norm of Android smartphones these days. In addition, it receives a processing speed… Full Story » | Written by Natesh Sood for . | Comment on this Article »
The Google+ team has recently posted a nice update on (where else)—Google+ and in that posting they offered a look at what we may be seeing happen and come available next week. Of course, the key words here being “may” happen and the generic timeframe of “next week.” That said, the goodies look to include a Windows Phone 7 app, better integration with Google Chat and for those who are super popular—the removal of the 5000 circle cap. With that, here is the full list as posted on the Google Plus Blog; 1. Ability to modify circles a post is… Full Story » | Written by Robert Nelson for . | Comment on this Article »
One of the key features of Google+ has been circles. Circles allow users to separate their contacts easily and eliminates the requirement to share all of your thoughts and content with everyone you are associated with. Circles seemed like Google's take on making groups, but that's not the case. A grouping feature is coming to Google+ thanks to Google's recent acquisition of a company named Fridge. Fridge describes itself as "Simple personal networks that anyone can instantly create to share photos, messages, and events with specific friends and groups." Today, Fridge announced it had been purchased by Google. The remaining… Full Story » | Written by Jeremy Hill for . | Comment on this Article »

Today is a good day to pick up the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play from Verizon. The price of the phone has been dropped to $99.99 with a new two-year contract. The Xperia Play seemed to have more buzz before it was released. The hype surrounding the phone has died down considerably since then. Still, there's no other smartphone out there that has better physical hardware for playing games like the Xperia Play. Just to keep things fair, you should know that there are cheaper ways to acquire an Xperia Play if you're willing to go through a third-party. Officials at Foxconn, the Chinese company that makes the iPhone for Apple, announced that earlier this week a 21-year old employee killed himself by jumping from a 6th story window. While it appears to be another in a long string of tragic suicides, the company is saying it was an accident and that the employee, whose name has not been released, was drunk at the time. Last year over a dozen Foxcomm workers attempted suicide and several succeeded. Poor working conditions were blamed and many employees said they were treated like machines. Both Apple and the company pledged to make… Full Story » | Written by Sue Walsh for . | Comment on this Article »

The HTC Wildfire S has long been rumored as coming available with T-Mobile here in the US, however up until now, the evidence to support that has remained rather sparse. That being said, how about a leaked spec sheet listing for the Wildfire S with T-Mobile branding? I guess that serves as evidence. Well, it does assuming this image has not been doctored any way. Needless to say, we are in the camp of believers and will now begin looking towards T-Mobile for something a bit more official, even just a rough timeframe for release. But in the meantime, those… Full Story » | Written by Robert Nelson for . | Comment on this Article »
Amid talks of the national debt and a need to raise the debt ceiling, some Senators are focusing their attention on the merger deal between AT&T and T-Mobile. A Democrat Senator from Wisconsin, Herb Kohl, who is also chair of the Senate's Antitrust Subcommittee, openly condemned the merger between the two wireless carriers. Moreover, he urged others to speak out against the merger. The premise of his argument is that the acquisition would “cause substantial harm to competition and consumers.” His full statement can be read below: "I have concluded that this acquisition, if permitted to proceed, would likely cause… Full Story » | Written by Natesh Sood for . | Comment on this Article »

After revolutionizing the personal computer, Bill Gates has decided to put an effort into revamping the toilet. Gates has said that he will donate $42 million towards a new environmentally-friendly and cost-effective reinvention. While some of us might take our “number two” stations for granted, developing nations around the world unfortunately do not share the same luxury. As it turns out, 40% of the world’s population does not have access to toilets while roughly a billion have to defecate outdoors. In addition, this lack of a sanitary waste system is costing 1.5 million people their lives every year from diarrhea… Full Story » | Written by Tarun Kunwar for . | Comment on this Article »

A few days ago Borders announced that it would be closing the last of it’s 399 remaining stores. Alongside that news came some confusion as to what will happen to Kobo, Borders’ eBook partner. It was said this could be bad for Kobo, but Kobo is saying that it’ll be fine. In a press release Kobo made a few statements clarifying any possible issues. While Borders was an early investor in Kobo, the retailer only hold 11 percent of Kobo, so there won’t be much of an issue there it seems.
