HP Touchpad maybe getting the Amazon Cloud Player

Look what we have here. The aptly titled webOS blog, webOSroundup is running a short story on the possibility of the Amazon Cloud Player landing on the HP Touchpad in the future. According to the post, one of the site’s contributor accidentally stumbled upon a button while downloading a song track on his HP Touchpad. Verizon Wireless reports its best quarterly performance, increases smartphone penetration

Although not as celebrated as when Google, Apple and Facebook are doing it, Verizon Wireless has announced strong second quarter 2011 growth brought about by revenues coming from increased smartphone penetration. Verizon’s wireless financial highlights for Q2 2011 shows that service revenues increased by 6.6% year over year, amounting to $14.7 billion. Data revenue increased as well, 22.2% year over year amounting to $5.8 billion which is a an increased of $1.1 billion from last year. The company’s retail postpaid products also showed tremendous increases, growing by as much as 1.9% from $1.00 during Q2 2010 to $54.12 this year.…

Harry Potter books could be coming to Kindle

When Pottermore launches this October, we’ll finally be able to read all the Harry Potter books digitally. There have been announcements of Rowling working with Google to bring the eBooks to Google Books, but there’s also some a good chance we’ll see the books make their way to Kindle. According to an Amazon spokesperson that talked to Paid Content, Amazon is working with the people behind Pottermore to bring the books to the Kindle platform. Anyone will tell you that one of RIM's biggest problems is that it's too old fashioned. The enterprise audience is a great market, but the general public wants more exciting products. Google Music Manager finally available for Linux users

Google Music is now useful to anyone on almost any OS, assuming they have an invite. Google has finally rolled out a Linux version of the Google Music Manager, so Linux users can finally use the service to upload their music into the cloud. If you’re on Linux, and have access to Google Music, all you need to do now is go to music.google.com, and download the Google Music Manager. Borders sends out a goodbye email as liquidation starts

Today is when Borders starts it’s liquidation sales, but not before sending out an email to customers explaining what happened. It’s easy to poke fun at the bookstore for not being able to keep up, but the email that was sent out was actually pretty sad, and sounds heartfelt. Important update: Carbonite and Mac OS X Lion

Carbonite Mac users may not want to upgrade their OS just yet. The popular cloud backup service isn’t quite ready for Lion just yet. Carbonite recently sent out an email to all Mac OS X users of the service, warning them not to upgrade to Lion right away. Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE reportedly shipping by July 26

According to an individual who pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE on Verizon Wireless, the tablet could ship as soon as July 26th for those who pre-ordered.  In addition, it would likely launch two days later on July 28th for anyone to purchase.  During the Verizon Wireless Q2 earnings call, an exec stated the tablet is “expected to launch by the end of this month.”  If you take a look at the screenshot above, you’ll notice that the order status says 07/26/2011, and Verizon does have a history of launching devices on Thursdays.  Overall, we are not 100%…

Sprint Nexus S 4G update coming soon

Sprint promises a new software update will be available for Nexus S 4G owners starting July 25th.  The update was supposed to drop earlier in the month, but due to delay issues, it is expected to begin rolling out this Monday.  The OTA software update will take approximately three weeks to complete, as the updating process occurs in waves.  According to Sprint, the update will bring enhancements such as “increased 4G data speeds and signal strength for users. Nokia Maps makes its way to iOS and Android

Nokia has an alternative mapping solution for iOS and Android device owners. It has brought Nokia Maps to both platforms in the form of a HTML5 web page. So while there is no Nokia Maps native application for non-Nokia devices, you can at least get an idea of what Nokia brings to the navigation table.
