AT&T: LG Thrill 4G will cost $99 on a two year contract

Unknown Android slider expected to launch sometime with AT&T

The last time we heard about the fake Apple stores in Kunming, Chinese investigators were looking into the legitimacy of the stores. The investigations were meant to determine if the stores were authorized to sell Apple products in addition to checking out their purchasing channels. Qualcomm will implement gesture controls in its smartphone and tablet processors

Qualcomm is the maker of all those Snapdragon processors that seem to be in nearly all modern smartphones these days. Sprint reveals upcoming Direct Connect phones

Sprint announced a few new phones this morning. These phones are unlike the wave of smartphones that are being revealed every week. These new phones will take advantage of an upcoming service called Sprint Direct Connect. Direct Connect is a push-to-talk service that will be three times the size (2.7 million square miles) of Sprint's current push-to-talk coverage area. It will be available in the fall. RIM rocked: lays off almost 10% of workforce plus management moves

While executives may call it a streamlining, 2000 RIM employees will check in today to find they’ve been streamlined right out of a job.  The move comes as part of a plan aimed at optimizing costs for the company after a disappointing earnings call in June.  I suspect the employees will not find relief in knowing their cost was not optimal for the company.  Further, there are major changes in the companies corporate structure. RIM doesn't want users to download the Android App Player

Last week, the Android App Player for the BlackBerry PlayBook was accidentally released by RIM. The Android App Player allows the PlayBook to open certain Android Apps that weren't designed to work on other operating systems. Though the Android App Player works on some levels, RIM suggests users not download it.
