Vizio is currently taking pre-orders for its 8 inch Android tablet that is expected to ship by July 18. Most tablets that launch feature 7 inch or 10 inch screens, so it’s interesting to see Vizio go in the middle with an 8 inch device. LG originally announced the Optimus Black smartphone during CES and since then we have heard a bit of chatter about the handset. More specifically, we had seen Telus announce the Skype edition of the handset recently. That being said, it looks like those in the US will soon have the opportunity to pick up an Android running Optimus Black from a variety of carriers, though it does not look like any will be offering the same Skype branded model as Telus. When Windows Phone 7 launched in October 2010 there were 1,000 apps in the Marketplace. Today the platform has reached a milestone, with 25,000 apps now being available in the Windows Phone Marketplace Hub. The number comes just about nine months after the release of Windows Phone 7. According to WP7applist, there’s actually just below 25,000 apps (24,784 to be exact), with 4,025 being inactive. Of those apps listed by the service, 51 percent are free, with the average price of paid apps being $1.48. A new Motorola device was spotted in the FCC and there is good reason to believe it is the upcoming and often delayed Motorola Droid Bionic. Skeptics may believe it is the Motorola Droid 3, but the FCC listing (which can be seen above) clearly labels the device as 4G LTE capable, which essentially rules out the possibility of it being the Droid 3. Earlier today we heard that Virgin, as well as SaskTel and Bell, are going to launch the Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone in Canada at an unannounced date. According to a report from the Los Angeles Times, Google is in “preliminary talks” with Hulu with the goal of striking a deal that would land the popular online video service. Los Angeles Times’ source is simply “people familiar with the situation,” but they must be trusted enough to publish the report.
