We often focus on the smartphones here at Gadgetell, however Verizon seems to be on a roll with flip-styled features phones as of late. Just the other day they announced the “durable” Samsung Convoy 2 and today they have returned with an announcement for the LG Revere. From what we can see, the Revere looks like it will be a good match for the person who simply wants to make calls and maybe send or receive a few text messages. The features include a 2 inch (176 x 220) internal display, a 0.98 inch monochrome (96 x 64) external display,… Full Story » | Written by Robert Nelson for . | Comment on this Article »
Verizon has recently announced a new data plan offering. Except this one comes with a catch in that it is only available in select areas. In short, the plan offers 300MB of data for $20 per month and is available for those living in Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia and North Carolina. Furthermore, this plan will only be available for a limited time running from August 18th through September 30th. Another point worth mentioning for this plan includes what happens when (if) you go over the 300MB limit—you will simply be charged another $20 and get another 300MB. With that, while… Full Story » | Written by Robert Nelson for . | Comment on this Article »
We sort of expect Verizon to make an official announcement for the Droid Bionic sooner rather than later, however given the handset was originally announced back in January during CES—it almost seems like they need to either release the phone or officially kill it off. Anyway, this latest little teaser comes in the form of an in-store appearance where real-world-style hands-on images were taken. That said, similar to the coming soon style teaser that Verizon launched a few days back—it still does not mean anyone can buy the phone. But hey, at least we have a new image to stare… Full Story » | Written by Robert Nelson for . | Comment on this Article »

Here’s a bike for everyone who thinks the standard metal frame bicycle is just a bit too rigid. This is the Bonobo bike, designed by Stanisław Płoski, and it’s frame is made of plywood. Why would you make a bike frame out of plywood? Well the first reason I can think of is to be cool and different. A real reason is to make a more flexible bike. By having a wood bike you can theoretically have a smoother ride because the frame itself will bend. Of course, with that you can also make the bike a bit heavier than… Full Story » | Written by Shawn Ingram for . | Comment on this Article »

If you look at the picture above, you’ll notice the caption: “Goodbye, Streak 5. It’s been a great ride.” I’m not sure if I agree with the exact wording of the caption, as I would switch ‘great’ with ‘peculiar.’ Ever since the Streak 5 was announced, customers weren’t sure whether Dell was trying to sell them a tablet or a smartphone, and who knows whether Dell really wanted it to be a tablet with voice capabilities or a smartphone with just a really large screen. The launch of the device was delayed, it came with an outdated OS, and carried… Full Story » | Written by Natesh Sood for . | Comment on this Article »
According to a report from Gartner, Nokia sold more handsets in Q2 than anyone else in the mobile market. While their numbers were strong in the past quarter, Q3 might not be as successful considering the release of the new iPhone. The report shows that Nokia’s strong sales are not a direct reflection of their new products, but rather retailers in Europe and China cutting prices to clear out Nokia inventory. "The sales efforts of the channel, combined with Nokia's greater concentration in retail and distributors' sales, saw Nokia destock more than 9 million units overall and 5 million smartphones,… Full Story » | Written by Tarun Kunwar for . | Comment on this Article »
Recently, a new domain registration attributed to Motorola sparked some excitement to many who have read about the news. Said domain registration bears the mark, KORE, and as soon as this was discovered many speculated that it could probably be the code name for Motorola’s next tablet. But, well sorry to disappoint you guys, said domain registration was after all not meant for a new tablet but for a new Motorola device. KORE actually refers to a new fitness device which looks a lot like the Nike+ iPhone and iPod accessory. Apparently, Sprint will be pulling the plug on its $125 and $50 service credits promotion early. The promotion was originally scheduled to end on October 1, but according to a Boy Genius Report source, Sprint will stop openly acknowledging the service credit offer on August 12. The $125 credit is being offered to customers who port their numbers from another carrier to Sprint while purchasing a smartphone on a two-year contract. A $50 credit is offered to transferring customers who decide to purchase a non-smartphone instead. Even though Sprint will still provide the service credit if asked, the carrier won't… Full Story » | Written by Jeremy Hill for . | Comment on this Article »
Just a few days ago there was a rumor circulating that T-Mobile would end its “unlimited” data plan for the 200MB package and start charging users for overages. Typically, T-Mobile allows customers to enjoy unlimited high speed data for 200MB, 2GB, 5GB, etc. but after that amount was reached, any further overages would result in throttled speed. Even though 2G speeds are quite disappointing when compared to 4G speeds, it beats having to incur overage charges. However, T-Mobile finds far too many customers are going over the 200MB limit and still requiring a lot of 2G data, thus prompting the… Full Story » | Written by Natesh Sood for . | Comment on this Article »

AT&T is believed to be selling off these assets to increase its chances of acquiring T-Mobile USA in 2012. Sony and LG have decided to make amends on a patent dispute. Back in February, LG filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission claiming Sony's assortment of Blu-ray players violated eight of LG's patents. Sony responded by claiming LG violated its patents in some of its mobile phones. The whole thing got so bad, PS3 consoles were seized in Europe by Customs. The two companies can put all that behind them now. LG and Sony decided to work together by signing a deal that allows them to use each others patents without incident. Neither party would state explicitly what… Full Story » | Written by Jeremy Hill for . | Comment on this Article »
Images of what are supposedly from an unfinished build of Android's Ice Cream Sandwich OS have appeared on two websites. Android Police and RootzWiki have two different images (four total) of the OS in action. One of the biggest changes is the blue outline Ice Cream Sandwich has in the notifications menu and the app drawer. This leads us to believe that Ice Cream Sandwich is taking on a color theme similar to Honeycomb. There is also new icon on the homescreen that looks like three apps with one right behind the other. This could be an easier way to… Full Story » | Written by Jeremy Hill for . | Comment on this Article » More Recent Articles |
