Shortly after HP announced the fate of WebOS, Microsoft’s Director of Developer Relations Brandon Watson sent a tweet offering WebOS developers a chance to develop for Windows Phone. Well, a lot of them have responded. It seems an offer for free dev tools, phones, and training was too good to pass up for over 500 WebOS developers. According to a report by BGR, HTC’s upcoming media event on September 1st will focus solely on Windows Phone 7 Mango. Mango is the latest version of WP7 and HTC is expected to announce two new smartphones each running the latest iteration of WP7. The two devices include the Eternity and Omega, headed to AT&T and T-Mobile, respectively. Rdio, the popular music streaming service has decided to borrow one of the few good pricing plans from cell phone carriers. Rdio now lets users buy plans for multiple people at a discounted rate. Rdio’s family plans don’t save you too much money for just two accounts, but there is a decent savings for buying three accounts. The new Verizon Video service app was recently pushed out to certain devices over the weekend and is available for download in the Android Market. While it is a free app, the subscription to use it costs $10 monthly or $3 for 24 hour usage. It looks like LG has formally announced their latest offering—the LG Optimus Sol. The handset is expected to debut in Europe beginning in mid-September, which will be followed in other regions such as Central and South America shortly after. Coming as another sign that the Droid Bionic will soon be available for purchase, the handset has been featured in the September edition of the Best Buy Buyer’s Guide.
