Verizon is moving pretty quickly with it’s LTE network. While AT&T hasn’t even turned it own for it’s first five markets Verizon is now claiming that half of all Americans now have access to Verizon Wireless 4G. On August 18 Verizon will turn on LTE to 15 new cities while expanding the service in 10 current cities. With that expansion Verizon’s LTE network will cover a total of 160 million Americans, which is just over half of all Americans. According to a post by a Verizon Employee on the Support Forums, the HTC Droid Incredible update to Android 2.3 has been delayed for no announced reason. We’re assuming something went wrong with the initial group of Incredible owners who received the update, such as a bug or software glitch. In any case, the update has been pulled and will undergo additional tests to try and straighten everything out. Roku officially announced the updated Roku 2 streaming box back towards the end of July and at that time it was confirmed to be coming with support for games. More specifically, it was announced with Angry Birds. It looks like some images of the Droid HD have recently surfaced. And nicely done, these do not seem to have come from My. Blurrycam. Anyway, aside from the images there are some specs which include Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a 4.5 inch display that (judged by the HD in the name) is assumed to be qHD. Other specs include an 8 megapixel rear facing camera, front facing camera and a side loading SIM and microSD card slot. The HP Pre 3 recently made an appearance on the HP Store website in Germany and since then—HP has confirmed the European availability. Plus, HP offered a bit of a teaser for those of in the US. T-Mobile has officially announced the upcoming availability of the 4G capable BlackBerry Bold 9900. The handset will come available for pre-sale beginning on August 17th and then come available for sale a few weeks later on August 31st. The HP TouchPad is one of two underdogs competing for space in the crowded tablet market. The BlackBerry PlayBook is another tablet that can't seem to get its footing. The TouchPad has been on the receiving end of a lot of sudden discounts lately, including a permanent $100 price drop. Continuing their partnership which started by giving out free music tracks via iTunes, Apple and Starbucks is doing the same gig, this for doling out paid iPhone apps for free. The gig is using the same “Pick of the Week” cards used during the free music promo. These cards can be found at the cash register and are given out to customers when they get their favorite Starbucks drinks.
