RIM has just pushed out another OS update for the BlackBerry PlayBook. With the update, the BlackBerry PlayBook OS is now officially on version v1.0.7.2942. Among the most important fixes brought in by the OS update are the improved Wi-Fi connectivity to WEP networks and better pairing between your BlackBerry smartphone and BlackBerry PlayBook. Teenagers that frequently use social networking sites are more likely to use drugs, alcohol and tobacco according to a study from Columbia University's National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse. The study used kids ages 12 to 17 to achieve these results. Of the youth surveyed, 70 percent of them admitted to using social networking sites. Of that 70 percent, 40 percent said they'd seen pictures on those sites of kids engaging in drugs and alcohol. Google has agreed to pay the United States government $500 million as part of a settlement deal. The government was breathing down Google's neck due to advertisements that were promoting the sell of illegal drugs. Google itself isn't behind the ads, but it was running the ads for pharmacies that were selling drugs outside of the confines of the law. According to the Wall Street Journal, it looks like AT&T and Verizon Wireless won’t be the only American carriers launching the upcoming iPhone 5 in the Fall. After Fox decided to make Hulu users wait eight days for the release of new episodes, the piracy levels of their shows have more than doubled since. It is likely that Fox was seeking to get more viewers to watch the original broadcasts and thus increase ad prices. Facebook announced some big changes to its user interface and privacy settings Tuesday. A lot of Facebook's alterations will make the social network seem more like Google+ due to the ability to choose who you want to direct posts to. The HTC Status sounded like a decent idea when it was unveiled back in Mobile World Congress earlier this year, but the hardware was only mediocre and even with a low price tag, the deep integration of Facebook wasn’t enough to entice customers.
