The Lenovo ThinkPad tablet is expected to begin shipping on August 23rd and it looks like it has recently garnered the approval of the FCC. Another rumor about Google's first Android 4.0 otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich has surfaced on Boy Genius Report. The site's source says Google has decided to speed up the launch of the first Ice Cream Sandwich devices to October. Since about mid-July, we knew MetroPCS was gearing up to launch the mid-range Samsung Admire Android smartphone. Today, we learned more specifics about the time frame for the Admire’s launch, as well as how the carrier will promote the smartphone. New logos for a few different Android smartphones on Sprint were recently leaked to Engadget. The logos include the Samsung Epic 4G Touch (a Galaxy S II device), the HTC EVO Design 4G, and the Motorola Admiral. Samsung is reportedly in the process of launching a slightly different model of the Galaxy S II that we have already come to know and love. The major difference between the newer Galaxy S II and what’s currently available in Europe is the presence of a 4G radio and bands to sync with European 4G networks. We recently learned that the Nokia N9 was not going to come available in the US market and while that may have been a disappointment for some—there is a bit more to add to that. Nokia announced the N9 smartphone during the Nokia Connection event that was held in Singapore back in June. Yesterday, the Federal Communications Commission sent a letter to AT&T to inform the company that two of its proposed acquisitions will be examined jointly and not separate. Those two acquisitions are for T-Mobile USA and Qualcomm's Lower 700 MHz D spectrum licenses. Qualcomm announced it was selling these licenses to AT&T in December 2010, but it hasn't been approved by the FCC yet. In its letter, the FCC stated it has "questions regarding AT&T’s aggregation of spectrum throughout the nation, particularly in overlapping areas." Sony, Panasonic and Samsung have stated that they will collectively be developing new standards for 3D glasses. Following the revelation that some stores in China were posing as legitimate Apple stores, China has started doing something about it. According to China Daily, officials in Beijing have began telling businesses to stop using Apple's trademarked logo in its shops if they aren't authorized by Apple to do so. Furthermore, stores have been ordered to not falsely refer to themselves as authorized Apple resellers or Apple direct retailers.
