Sony Japan Announces Super-Cute “PSP Value Pack for Girls” Posted: 07 Jan 2011 04:03 AM PST Sony Japan announced [JP, PDF] a new PSP bundle today, the so-called “PSP Value Pack For Girls” (official name), and not too surprisingly, it’s completely in pink. Technically, you can’t expect any changes, but Sony is throwing in special ribbon earphones and a cute bag (also in pink) that were designed just for this bundle. The PSP Value Pack For Girls is a follow-up to the “Jill Stuart Sweet Package” Sony started selling last year. Apart from said gimmicks, it also contains a 2GB Memory Stick Duo Pro card (not in pink). The new bundle will cost $240 when it hits Japanese stores on February 17. |
New iPhone Case Idea: iPhone Holster Design Project Posted: 07 Jan 2011 03:33 AM PST Need a very special iPhone or iPod case but didn’t find anything yet? Kickstarter, the site that helps people fund product ideas and concepts, might have the right one in store for you: designer Myles Christensen just needs $3,000 to start his design project “iPhone Holster”. The iPhone Holster is a case that fits all versions Apple has released of the iPhone and the iPod touch so far. As you can see on the pictures, the case is designed to look like an old west gun holster, and it has a soft interior lining to protect your screen (the holster itself is made of leather). Christensen says that if his project gets funded (he needs the money by February 3), the first people ordering the iPhone Holster should receive it by the end of February. If you pledge $35 or more, you’ll get one shipped (in black or brown). |

Hands-Off Video Demo: The Unnamed Samsung 4G LTE Smartphone For Verizon Posted: 06 Jan 2011 03:47 PM PST Unless Samsung’s trying to pull some sneaky SEO shenanigans, I’m pretty sure they’re not actually planning on taking this thing to market with the name “4G LTE Smartphone For Verizon” — but if they’ve got another name for it right now, they’re not sharing it. Like with the Thunderbolt, Verizon wasn’t down to let me paw at this thing. Fortunately, they were down to give me a demo on video. Get to watchin’! |
Hands-Off Video Demo: The HTC Thunderbolt for Verizon Posted: 06 Jan 2011 03:43 PM PST At long, long last, Verizon has pulled back the curtain on the HTC Thunderbolt. After months of covering the various rumors surrounding this thing (not to mention watching it change names constantly, from the Zeus to the Incredible HD to the Mecha to the Thunderbolt), finally seeing it get announced conjured up some pretty strong feelings of Deja Vu. With that said, I’m glad it’s here — and I’m even more glad that Verizon was down to give me a quick video run-through of the handset immediately after its debut this evening. |
Hands-On Video: LG’s First Verizon 4G Phone, The Revolution Posted: 06 Jan 2011 03:39 PM PST There’s only so much we can say about the just-announced LG Revolution, given that Verizon’s still staying mum on the pricing and release date (outside of “sometime before the second half of 2011″). With that said, one thing’s for sure: as I am with all of the 4G Android phones Verizon has announced this week, I’m pretty sure I’m in love. |
Quick Hands-On: Fujifilm’s Gorgeous X100 Posted: 06 Jan 2011 01:11 PM PST

They’ve already announced the G-Slate and we’ve reviewed the Streak 5, reporting that it’s a strong, if tiny, tablet device. |

Razer Finally Makes Its Onza 360 Controller Available: $50 Or €50, Your Choice Posted: 06 Jan 2011 11:01 AM PST We first saw the Onza improved 360 controller at last year’s CES, and at the time, I thought it would be released during 2010 — but it’s only now hitting… because of delays? Or because they decided to capitalize on the CES hype? I’m guessing the latter. At any rate, it’ll be available in a little over a week. |

CES 2011: Live From The Show Floor Posted: 06 Jan 2011 08:13 AM PST Today is the day. Today is the day where we can put the nonsense of yesterday’s press events behind us and actually get on the floor of CES 2011 with our Ustream equipment. Hallelujah. The show technically opens at 10:00am, but we’re kicking off the day with a live interview with Ford’s superstar CEO, Alan Mulally at 9:00 in Ford’s North Hall booth. We have twenty minutes with the man, so please, drop any questions you may have in the comments below concerning Ford’s roll in vehicle technology, the auto maker’s stance on EVs, or anything else, really. We’re certainly going to ask Detroit’s top car guy how he feels about the new US Top Gear series. After the Mulally interview, we’re going to hit the show floor hard and fast with our Ustream equipment. There’s a lot to see here and we only have a couple short days to bring it all. So yeah, click over to CES.CrunchGear.com for the latest news and the live Ustream feed, which we’ll fire up at 9:00am PST today. The tentative plan right now is to hit up the main central hall at CES first. This is the one that Microsoft, Intel, Sony, and other big players call home during CES. But there are three other massive exhibit halls and an outside showcase for vehicles and whatnot. The next three days are going to fly by and we’re bring the whole show to you live through the power of a magical Ustream wireless backpack. As usual, you can communicate with us while we’re roaming the floor by using #Crunchgear on Twitter. Please, drop us a note if you have question or want us to seek something here at the show. |
iPhone 3GS To Be $49 From AT&T Starting Tomorrow Posted: 06 Jan 2011 07:13 AM PST *BAM* Just like that, AT&T destroyed the $50 smartphone market by dropping the iPhone 3GS down to the same level as Nokia communicators, teeny-bop Blackberrys and the bargain-bin Android devices. That whole market now has to compete with the big dog, the iPhone 3GS. Well, they do starting tomorrow when the wireless carrier’s new pricing starts. Notice this pricing is just for AT&T as the carrier is dropping the price independently from Apple themselves. So yeah, shoppers looking for the $49 3GS need to head down to their local AT&T dealer rather than the Apple Stores. Of course |
