Well, we now have some more juicy details about one the Huawei Ideos X5. If you will recall, this 3.5-inch Android phone was said to be featuring high-speed HSDPA/HSUPA, WiFi, a-GPS, Google Apps, accelerometer and 5MP camera with LED Flash. In addition to those features, we now know that its going to be a 3.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800x480. Aside from the a-GPS feature, it will also be packed with an integrated compass, a 3.5mm audio jack and that its camera can capture 720p HD video. The phone will also be loaded with Aldiko ebook reader app, plus of cause some Google apps courtesy of Google Android 2.2 as its OS. While these are all well and good, however, we’re still left hanging as to what will be in the internals of the Android phone. We’re guessing a 1GHz processor is the likely possibility. No words yet as to when this Android phone will be coming out. Another guess is that it might be displayed during the CES 2011? According to Digitimes, the iPad 2 will ship in either WiFi, UMTS, or CDMA. The latter two models imply iPad 2s with 3G capability, while WiFi simply means lack of 3G connectivity. Interestingly, many people prefer the iPad in conjunction with a data plan, even though the upfront cost for the iPad is more and then you are tied to a data plan. Currently, 60-65% of iPad sales are for the 3G model. As result, sources expect the iPad 2 to ship in this such ratio: 3:4:3 for WiFi, UMTS, and CDMA, respectively. About 16 million total shipments for the iPad occurred in 2010 and a few million (2-3) of inventory will roll over into the new year. Apple expects this batch to sell off by the first quarter of 2011, giving rise to an iPad 2 announcement. Analysts expect Apple to ship over 40 million iPad 2’s in the ever-growing tablet market. The HTC EVO 4G and the Samsung Epic 4G are the only smartphones with 4G connectivity, and the Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot is the only Sprint device with 4G access. If you live in the Bay area with a Sprint 4G device, feel free to enjoy faster browsing speeds, albeit it an additional cost. The Android device features a 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED touch screen, Android 2.1, T-DMB receiver, Bluetooth, and WiFi. Unfortunately, it does not come with full Android Market access, but it will be launched with a Twitter and social networking app. The D3 Plenue features a microSD memory slot, accelerometer, vibration feedback and HDMI and USB outputs. Lastly, it supports a multitude of audio and video formats, but perhaps most impressive is its support of 1080p HD video. Unfortunately, pricing and availability information has yet to be released, but hopefully this device makes its way Stateside because the iPod Touch has largely been uncontested on the PMP market. All said and done, 1 million in three months time is pretty impressive, but at the same time I am thinking that a $99 price tag had something to do with that. If nothing else, the Apple TV hardly seems like a hobby project after crossing the one million sold mark. But then again, with some of their other sales numbers, say for the iPhone and iPod touch, one million may still be in the hobby range for them.
