Back in May, Verizon's CFO Fran Shammo hinted at Verizon's plan to stop providing unlimited data for its customers. In its place would be a new pricing structure that would be separated by how much data someone expects to use. Today, Droid-Life has what it believes are prices for the new data plans. Verizon will allegedly put the new tiered data plans into effect on July 7. The new prices will only affect new customers and possibly customers looking to extend an expiring contract. Near-field communication (NFC) is on the verge of ushering in a new method in conducting mobile payments. Google Wallet is a service that will use the Nexus S 4G to allow users to link their credit cards to their phones. Whenever someone with an NFC-enabled device visits a store that accepts NFC payments, transactions can be completed simply by placing the device near the store's scanner. One major restriction to NFC payments is the requirement to have a NFC chip embedded within a device. We've reported on the latest website hacks a lot lately. However this story about the dating website BeautifulPeople.com involves a computer virus that was designed to undermine the philosophy behind the site. Last month, a virus infected the website and allowed some 30,000 people to become members of the site without going through the mandatory screening process. The website doesn't allow just anybody into its ranks. BeautifulPeople.com chooses it members according to how attractive they are. Last night, while scores of Fathers Day families were snuggled around the TV to stream a movie from the popular Netflix movie service were met with disappointment: Netflix is unavailable. The service seemed to be unreachable via the web, Roku box, Apple TV, iPad (and other iOS devices) and game consoles. The disruption appears to have affected the US and Canada. So far, Netflix has not issued a statement. While many of the Thunderbolt 4G users are anxiously waiting another software update to put an end to the current random reboot issues, it looks like that wait may come with some reward. While this is still clearly in the rumor category, it looks like the Pre 3 is going to be coming available with both Verizon Wireless as well as AT&T towards late-July. Of course, neither of these come as a total surprise considering we have seen an AT&T capable model in a FCC filing and a Verizon branded model in the wild. Bell made the official announcement a few days back, the HTC Sensation 4G smartphone was going to be coming available. Sadly though, when they made the announcement they failed to let anyone know exactly when, or how much it will cost. While we had recently learned that the HP TouchPad would be available here in the US beginning on July 1st, it is still nice to see the employee training material begin to roll-out for the various retail locations that will be selling the tablet. We saw the modern day Commodore 64 get announced a few weeks back, which was followed up with an option to move forward with a pre-order. HTC and T-Mobile are collaborating on a new device in the myTouch lineup, and this time around, it will feature a physical slider QWERTY keyboard as well as 4G connectivity.
