Section: Communications, Smartphones For the past few days Sprint has been teasing us with a smartphone to be announced on February 24. Sprint has already hinted that the upcoming phone will be a Windows Phone 7 device, with the company’s Twitter mentioning a dram phone with various hubs. Now we have a Sprint web page that seems to hint at a rebranding of the HTC 7 Pro. If you head to sprint.com/arrive you’ll find the above image. It’s a bit obvious that Sprint is planning to put something there. According to Engadget, tomorrow the page will be for the HTV Arricve, a rebranding of the HTC 7 Pro. It would mark the first CDMA Windows Phone, and obviously the first time the OS has appeared on Sprint. The HTC 7 Pro was announced alongside the original launch of Windows Phone 7, but Sprint customers have had to wait for CDMA to be supported by the OS. For pricing and whatnot we’ll have to wait until tomorrow, but for now at least we know what the announcement probably is. The said agreement will gives Netflix the license to stream select TV shows from CBS’s content library. To be able to watch these select CBS TV shows, Netflix subscribers will have to pay and additional $7.99 a month. And for that price, they will be able to watch great TV content including the long-running drama, “Medium” as well as the summer season favorite, “Flashpoint.” Other CBS TV shows included in the said agreement are “Frasier,” “Family Ties,” “Cheers,” episodes from the original “Hawaii Five-0,” “Star Trek,” “Twin Peaks,” “The Twilight Zone,” and “The Andy Griffith Show.” CBS Television President of Distribution, Scott Koondel said: “This deal recognizes the increasing value of our content in today’s marketplace. Will these celebrities’ testimonials enough to convince in getting the products? Well, it seems that Metro PCS thinks that Snopp Dogg evangelizing about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Indulge will make some waves and raves enough to convince you in getting the said Android smartphone, hence the pop star has become the official endorser of the Samsung Galaxy Indulge. But of course, that’s not the point of the promotional gig. The point is that the Samsung Galaxy Indulge is a pretty exciting Android smartphone for the simple reason that as Metro PCS claims - it’s the world’s first commercially available 4G LTE Android smartphone. MetroPCS is offering the Samsung Galaxy Indulge under its 4GLTE smartphone service plans which is said to be about half the cost of other carriers’ 4G smartphone service plans. Said plans will cost you either $50 or $60 monthly which includes all taxes and regulatory fees. In addition, these plans come with unlimited text, talk and 4G LTE web page browsing plus data access for audio and video streaming as well as gaming content downloads. If those plans and the Samsung Galaxy Indulge’s features are still not enough to convince you, Metro PCS is pushing the promotion further by giving you a chance to meet Snoop Dogg up close and personal through the “Indulge with Snop Dogggg” sweepstakes. That’s a chance to win VIP tickets to Snopp’s concert this summer plus two Samsung Galaxy Indulge smartphones. More details about the contest can be found at the product link below. So, there. Do you think Snopp Dogg is an effective endorser of the Samsung Galaxy Indulge? Will be getting this phone because of this gig? via [PR Newswire], read [Indulge with Snopp Doggg] Full Story » | Written by Arnold Zafra for Gadgetell. | Comment on this Article » Section: Apple, Computers, Gadgets / Other On March 2 we’l finally get to see what Apple has planned for the future of the iPad. An invite was sent out today inviting press to an Apple event on March 2. As you can see from the image above, Apple certainly isn’t hiding the fact that this event is all about the iPad. There have been a lot of rumors running about as to what the iPad 2 will actually feature. The one thing we can probably safely assume is that the next generation Apple tablet will have at least a front facing FaceTime camera. Hopefully it will have a higher pixel density screen, but rumors there have been contradictory at best. While we here at Gadgetell didn’t get our invitation (I like to think the email just got lost in the ether somewhere), you can be sure that we’ll be watching the live stream. Between Gadgetell and our sister site Appletell, we’ll try to get you all the iPad 2 coverage we can. It looks like Archos has quietly prepared two new Android tablets as Wireless Goodness spotted these two tablets hitting the FCC tablet for scrutiny. The said Android tablets are currently known as the Archos ARNOVA 10HT and the Archos ARNOVA 8. Obviously, the former has a 10-inch screen display while the later is an 8-incher. Unfortunately, nothing much is revealed from the FCC documents except for the fact that the Archos ARNOVA 8 might be sporting an 800x600 display with 311MHz ARM processor, 8GB of storage and Android 1.5 OS. If those specs are true, then we can say that this Android tablet will be geared as an entry level Android device which will most probably be marketed as an eBook reader. As for the Archos ARNOVA 10HT, no information is known at this time except for the fact that it will most likely be marketed as an Internet tablet since the FCC document is revealing Wi-Fi support. Anyway, since hitting the FCC is an indication of things to come, we can just wait until Archos officially announce more information about these tablets in the days to come. via [Wireless Goodness] Full Story » | Written by Arnold Zafra for Gadgetell. | Comment on this Article » Section: Computers, Mobile Computers According to the latest in the rumor mill, Samsung is going to announce an 8.9 inch Galaxy Tab branded tablet sometime soon. Except while this sounds like it will round out the Galaxy Tab lineup, there are very few details available at this time. Bottom line, its a rumored device and it is expected to be running Android 3.0 Honeycomb at launch. Of course, there is also the current 7 inch Galaxy Tab as well as the officially announced and not yet available 10.1 inch model. Given that, even a rumor with as few details as this seems likely if for no other reason then to round out the sizes. Seems pretty shady Verizon, but I guess it is a way for you to at least guarantee yourself $20. And while we also saw this happen with the Xoom, it seems rather strange and we cannot help but wonder what Verizon is thinking. Then again, while we are quick to blame Verizon, maybe this is of Best Buy doing. You almost forgot about it, right? Well, it looks like you can forever forget about it as reports say that this e-reader is being phased out in the next six months. The E-Book Reader blog is breaking out the news after they’ve noticed that the Alex E-Reader was listed as “out of stock” from the Spring Design website. After inquiring about it through the website’s feedback form, the E-Book Reader blog folks got a response from Spring Design confirming that the Alex E-Reader is indeed being phased out in the next six months. And that there is no further details on whether Spring Design is coming out with a new product. Sad? Well, in case you forgot, the Alex Reader used to be a pretty interesting e-reader for the simple reason that it has two screens, one with E-Ink display for e-book reading and the other an LCD for web browsing and other mobile tasks. For a time, Spring Design seemed to have something good going for them, until Barnes & Noble released their Nook E-Reader 3G a few months ahead of the release of Alex E-Reader. Things started to get pretty ugly as the two companies engaged in a legal battle over some issues regarding the e-readers. The legal case is still pending as of this moment. Well, whether Spring Design will push through with the case or not and what ever the outcome will remain uncertain. What is sure right now is that you we won’t be seeing any more of that dual-screen E-Reader anymore. via [The E-Book Reader Blog] Full Story » | Written by Arnold Zafra for Gadgetell. | Comment on this Article » More Recent Articles |
