True to the rumors a couple of days ago, Best Buy is reported to have started accepting pre-orders for the Motorola XOOM starting today, February 20. Take note, this is applicable only at Best Buy stores not online. Additionally, if you pre-order now, you are assured to get first dibs at this much awaited Motorola Android tablet on Feb. 24. Unfortunately, only the 3G version is available for pre-orders. And for what price? - $799.99.
The good news is - the said price is available with no obligatory contract for two years. However, even if you plan to use the XOOM minus the 3G network and rely only on Wi-Fi connectivity, you are still required to activate a data plan with Verizon. The good news is, said data plan is required only for a month. Perhaps this is Verizon’s way of enticing you to sign-up for a two-year contract later on.
So, who’s going to buy the dust here? Or are you waiting up for the Motorola XOOM to be offered on contract? Or are you waiting for the Wi-Fi only model which would probably cost less?
