Section: Gadgets / Other, ebooks While we here at Gadgetell are pretty apt at covering ereading devices, we also look toward one of our sister sites for dedicated coverage to all things related to ereading. That site is TeleRead and they have recently gotten their hands on the Sharper Image Literati, and well, lets just say that I am not so sure I am going to be running out to make a purchase. Granted, this is a first impression style post, however I am thinking that at the very least I would wait for a full review before running out and making a purchase. With that, hit the read more link below to check out the post and see the first impression thoughts from Chris Meadows. In the mainstream media, it’s rare to get all three of those words together, but the new movie that opened last night, The Social Network, does just that. The movie chronicles the founding of the popular social networking site, Facebook. At Gadgetell, we report on a lot of Facebook news: privacy, it’s growth, monetizing, even boycotting it. The Social Network, however, manages to move past the news and details we all know. The movie centers on Mark Zuckerberg and his persona as he founds the site we all know. One of the biggest take aways is the irony of the almost unlikable, socially inept founder creating a social network. Zuckerbergs vision for the site is, as perhaps as it should be, “no idea what it is, what it could be, what it will be.” Despite it’s rising popularity, groupies, even fame, it becomes clear Zuckerberg would rather plug in and code rather than enjoy the spotlight and the fruits of his labor. Perhaps that is something Gadgetell readers can identify with. The movie is more a good book than a roller coaster ride. The casting is spot on and the story well told. Viewers become engrossed in the lawsuits coming at Zuckerberg from all sides. Very enjoyable, witty and smart. A Gadgetell “must see”. In other words, if you buy a Droid Incredible you can get another for free. Of course, the first is still going to set you back $199.99 and both will require a two year agreement. That said, these deals are always nice for those looking to get started on a family plan. After all, it is much nicer spending $200 as opposed to $400. Plus, the Incredible is a pretty sweet handset thanks to the 3.7 inch 480 x 800 display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 8GB internal storage, 8MP camera, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and Android 2.2 Froyo. Yup, Napster is now available for Android. The app can be found rather easily by searching for ‘napster’ within the Market or scanning the QR image code below. The app comes as a free download, however, actually using the app does require a Napster subscription which comes at $10 per month. That said, for that $10 per month you will get access to “over 11 million full-length songs” that you can listen to “anytime, anywhere.” Via [AndroLib] Full Story » | Written by Robert Nelson for Gadgetell. | Comment on this Article » Section: Apple, Communications, Smartphones, Mobile, Gadgets / Other, GPS/Navigation The AT&T Navigator app for the iPhone has recently been updated, which brings the app up to version 1.7i, but more important than the version number are the new features that have been added. First and foremost this update adds in direct speech recognition, which is noted as being the “first iPhone GPS Navigation” app to be able to say that. Other new features include; - Lane Assistance
- Traffic Camera Alerts
- Battery Saver Mode
- Multitasking
- Smoother 3D Animations
Lastly, the AT&T Navigator app is available in the App Store as a free download, though it does require a subscription for use and that will set you back either $9.99 on a monthly basis or $69.99 on an annual basis. All said and done, this seems to be a nice set of new features.
