Section: Web, Web 2.0 / Social Networking, Websites Mary Bale, the British woman caught on tape tossing a cat into a garbage can, is feeling the wrath of the internet. It started when she threw Lola the cat in the garbage, a despicable caught on a nearby security camera. The cat was trapped in the garbage can for 15 hours before being rescued. Bale further infuriated the public when she she made the callous comment that she didn’t see why it was a big deal because it was “only a cat”. The infamous 4Chan group quickly identified her and from there groups protesting her actions and demanding justice for Lola the cat began springing up on Facebook. Videos showing a cat dreaming of stuffing her in a trash can hit YouTube, and even Twitter users got into the act, including one who set up an account called catbinlady and began tweeting things like “Just kicked the head off next door’s gnome. For a joke.” Bale’s phone number and Facebook page were also revealed. The flood of outrage sent Bale into hiding where she awaits animal cruelty charges. Samsung has teased us with the device, but it’s doubtful that the company wanted us to know everything about the device before the official announcement. The newest Tab leak shows that it’s likely coming to Verizon, and Samsung is preparing a series of iPad-esque accessories. The Galaxy Tab leak this time has what appears to be the final device with a label on it proclaiming that it is a CDMA model. Seems like it would fit with Verizon’s plans to have a tablet out before the end of the year. The new leak also shows the Tab having four buttons rather than the previous three that we’ve seen. As for the accessories, leaked images show that Samsung is preparing a case for the Tab similar to the one that Apple sells for the iPad. It’s a simple folder-style case, where the cover fold to provide a stand for the device so it doesn’t lay flat. Samsung is also preparing a keyboard-dock for the Tab, just as Apple does for the iPad. Seems that even though the Tab will have what appears to be Swype installed, Samsung expects some users to want to use it for longer form writing. Or perhaps the company just wants to offer the same as Apple. To complete the set, there is a white set or earbuds with an in-line remote, which seems like it should just be standard by now. The one accessorie that Samsung has over the iPad, is the HDMI-dock. It seems Samsung wants you to be able to use more than just VGA to output video on the Tab. The accessories all make sense for a tablet of any size, but the fact that the iPad had them first means that for a while, most tablet accessories will be compared to them. The Galaxy Tab looks like it could possibly be a serious contender against the iPad. The only question that remains is how well Android apps will run on the device that seems to have a 1024x600 screen. We’ll just have to wait until Thursday to find out. It’s believed the botherders tried it as a way of hiding their activity but decided the burden it placed on bandwidth and processing speed was too great. The botnet is currently responsible for over 40% of the world’s spam volume, most of it pharmaceutical spam hawking the fake prescription drugs sold by the infamous Canadian Pharmacy group. The Russian Mafia is the group’s suspected ringleader. By the way, in case you are ever the least bit tempted to buy prescription drugs from a Canadian Pharmacy site, DON’T. As mentioned above the drugs are fake, manufactured in India and China, and not regulated at all. There’s no telling what kinds of things end up in the phony pills. While the FDA says so far there have been no reports of any deaths or serious illnesses caused by the drugs, they also issued an advisory warning U.S. citizen’s to stay away from the sites. Simply mentioning 4.3 inch touch screen and HTC should remind many of our readers of the HTC EVO 4G on the Sprint network, you know, that awesome phone with a front facing camera and 4G capabilities? It looks like HTC is creating a device very similar to the EVO in terms of form factor, but this time, it will be available on the nation’s largest carrier—Verizon Wireless. If you take a look at the image above, you’ll notice the purported device features an 8 MP camera with LED flash, a kickstand, and HTC Sense UI on top of Android OS. The image below confirms a 3.5mm headphone jack, but more importantly, it confirms the existence of a front facing camera. Should this new HTC phone launch sometime soon running—hopefully—Froyo, it would arguably be the best Android device Verizon Wireless has to offer, simply just by looking at the specs. Third party retailers usually sell smartphones cheaper than the carrier and Amazon already has the Epic 4G available for pre-order for only $199.99, meaning you save $50. Even though the smartphone is eligible for free two day shipping, it will not begin to ship until August 31 and even then Amazon mentions “Due to demand for this device, you may experience a slight shipping delay.” The Epic is Sprint’s latest Android smartphone and is their variant of the Galaxy S smartphone. Unlike the other Galaxy S smartphones (the Vibrant, Captivate, and Fascinate) it features a physical QWERTY slider keyboard, front facing camera, and 4G connectivity. It is the second Sprint device with access to its WiMAX network as the EVO 4G was the first phone.
