Samsung Galaxy Tab on Vodaphone

Details involving the Samsung Galaxy Tab are relatively scant and the latest rumor claims Samsung will make an official product debut at IFA 2010 in Berlin.  Hopefully at the event we will learn more information in terms of specs, availability, and pricing, but for the time being, it looks like Vodaphone UK may launch a 3G capable Galaxy Tab.

If you take a look at the image above, you’ll notice the product name “Samsung Galaxy Tab Contract” clearly listed in the middle of the list.  Unfortunately, the inventory screen shot does not provide any more information, but this does give rise to the possibility that Vodaphone UK will launch the Galaxy Tab in due time.  Should any more details arise about the Galaxy Tab on the Vodaphone network between now and IFA 2010, we’ll keep you updated.

LionelatDell Dell Streak tweet

One of the common gripes of the newly released Dell Streak is the fact that it only runs Android 1.6 - for the time being anyway.  Dell promised it would soon be upgraded to Android 2.1 and eventually Android 2.2.  However, it looks like Dell may go ahead and update the Streak from the lowly Android 1.6, to the top-of-the-line Android 2.2 for all U.S. devices and bypass Android 2.1 completely.  Here’s a tweet from LionelatDell on the issue:

@dzerveviktory Honest answer is that it’s complicated. From the info I have, current plan in the US is to go right to Froyo. #dellstreak

No word on the exact timeframe for Dell to roll out the Android 2.2 update for Streak devices, but I’m sure many Streak owners will be happy by this information.  If Dell is able to upgrade the Streak to Froyo quickly, it may sway potential customers into purchasing the tablet/smartphone.
