Section: Communications, Cellular Providers, Smartphones, Mobile While the interwebs seem to be shifting focus onto the Droid Bionic lately, it looks like the Droid Incredible 2 release rumors may also be heating up. Just recently the handset, or at least the name of the handset, was spotted in the Best Buy system. Maybe that means we are going to hear something in terms of an official announcement next week during CTIA. Time will tell, time will tell. Of course, that is most likely because the Bionic seems to be the device that the interwebs have choose to replace the now-ended rumors regarding the HTC Thunderbolt. Yup, the Thunderbolt has come available so we all need another unreleased handset to obsess over. That said, we were treated with that rather cryptic poem the other day which suggested a release was coming sooner rather than later. And now, now we have the crew from AndroidCommunity pestering the in-store Verizon employees. Of course, in full disclaimer, the did note that the employees “weren’t 100% sure” but they did suggest that the Bionic “would be released somewhere around mid-April.” And looking back, the Droid Bionic was officially unveiled during CES where we learned that it was going to arrive with features to include a 4.3 inch qHD display, 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, HDMI and Android 2.2. In addition, the Bionic will also have a front facing VGA camera as well as a rear facing 8 megapixel. And it looks like we may soon see a bit of strawberry red. The above image, which is about all the evidence we have so far was recently spotted on a Dutch retailers site, and while the handset is not available for sale it does lead one to believe this color will be available soon enough. Otherwise, aside from the strawberry red exterior casing, the Incredible S will also bring a 4 inch (480 x 800) Super LCD display, Android 2.2, HTC’s Sense UI, 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 768MB RAM, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and an 8 megapixel camera with HD video recording. In other words, those sporting an Android 2.2 or later device can now experience the “full web.” That said, the Flash Player 10.2 app can be downloaded by those running Android 2.2 or Android 2.3 and have it considered a final release. Those on a device running Android 3 (the Xoom tablet) should note that this is still listed as being a beta release. Otherwise, this will bring the current (full) version number up to 10.2.156.12. With that hit the ‘via’ line below to get to the Android Market and have the update sent to your device. And by being done, we are referring to selling them for less money and clearing out the inventory. Of course, Apple was quick to discount them by knocking $100 off the price of each model right from the beginning. That said, AT&T may have been a little slower to start discounting, however now that they have—they have a pretty sweet deal going on. But first, these are obviously limited time offers, in other words they will be available until the supply dwindles down and empties out. And with that, the 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G iPad is priced at $429 (a $200 savings), the 32GB Wi-Fi + 3G iPad appears to be gone and the 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G iPad is priced at $529 (a $300 savings). With that, sure the iPad 2 is a bit nicer, but getting a 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G iPad for $529 is also pretty nice.
