Section: Communications, Cellphones, Cellular Providers, Smartphones, Mobile If you’re not planning to get one of those 4G, Android smartphones that are scheduled for release in the coming weeks and you just want a simple mobile phone where your friends and family can easily and quickly contact you anytime, check out the Samsung Factor. Best Mobile is offering the Samsung Factor for just $49.99 exclusively to its retail stores nationwide and select independed wireless dealers. You can also get this phone direct via boostmobile.com. As mentioned, the Samsung Factor is available from Boost Mobile, specifically under its Monthly Unlimited with Shrinkage Plan. This plan makes you pay less everytime you make payments of your monthly bill on time and the longer you stay under the plan. So for example - if you make six on-time payments, your monthly cost will be lesser by $5, until it reaches down to as low as $35/mo. For that price you’ll enjoy unlimited nationwide talk, text, web, email, IM and calls to 411. And while the Samsung Factor maybe a simple phone, it does have some nice features including Bluetooth, camera, wireless email access, IM capability, multimedia and text messaging capability, voice mail, caller ID, call waiting, and more. Additionally, Boost Mobile is also extending its $5 International Connect promo until March 31. If you’re a new or existing Boost Mobile subscriber you can add this feature to your monthly unlimited plan to receive the reduced rate of just $5 per monthly. This is a great deal as it covers unlimited calling to landlines in over 150 cities. Of course a lot of that decision has to do with where you plan on using the iPad 2. Pricing is also a question as well. Now we know exactly how much you can expect to pay for your iPad 2’s 3G data on both networks to help you decide. First is AT&T. It’s only first because it’s exactly the same as before. You get 250 MB for $14.99 and 2 GB for $25. Going over on the 250 MB plan with monthly statements will cost you another $14.99 for another block of 250 MB. Going over on the 2 GB monthly payments plan will cost you an extra $10 per GB. If you use credit card billing you can choose to buy an additional plan to go on top of the one you already have for the same price should you go over. For Verizon it’s not as confusing in terms of overage, but that could simply be because Verizon isn’t talking about that. You do get more choice, though. With Verizon Wireless you get four options: 1 GB, 3 GB, 5 GB or 10 GB per month. Those plans will cost $20, $35, $50 and $80 per month, respectively. So it’s a bit more expensive than AT&T, but you get a more reliable network that’s in a lot more places than AT&T’s 3G. Verizon does sacrifice a bit of speed, however, so keep that in mind. What we didn’t know until today was exactly how we can get our hands on the successor to the magical tablet. Those hoping to get the iPad 2 early in the day might be disappointed, as will those who wanted to get an iPad on launch day without having to wait in line. Today Apple announced that the iPad 2 will be on sale at all US Apple stores tomorrow at 5 p.m. local time. That doesn’t mean the lines won’t start before then, but you won’t be able to actually buy the device until that time. That’s great news for those who have to work and can’t afford or don’t want to spend all Friday in line. If you choose to buy the iPad 2 in store, Apple will help you set up the device before you leave, so you can play with the tablet immediately. If you’re hoping to skip the lines by going to Best Buy, Walmart, Target, AT&T or Verizon stores, don’t be too sure. All those stores will follow the same rules and start selling the iPad 2 at 5 p.m. local time as well. For those who are a bit more patient but don’t want to wait in line, the iPad 2 will go on sale on Apple’s website tomorrow at 1 a.m. PST. So those of us on the east coast will have to wait until 4 a.m. to ensure they’re not all sold out by the time we wake up. Still, it’s better than waiting in line, right? The videos include FaceTime, Mail, Safari, iBooks, Videos, Photos, Find My iPad, iPod, iTunes, App Store, Maps, AirPlay, GarageBand and iMovie. You know, the default Apple apps. But hey, maybe you can pass the link to these videos over to some of your not-quite-as-tech-friendly friends or family members and they will be able to get a head start in using their shiny new iPad come March 11th. The offer allows those still on a Sidekick to get 50 percent off on the purchase of a new Samsung smartphone. The offer was previously valid until April 5th, but the good news is that you now have until April 19th to commit to a new phone. Of course, there is always the option to cancel your service and have your early termination fee waived. As you can see from the above image, the sales flyer has listed the Thunderbolt as “Now Available.” Of course, for anyone following along and playing the game at home realizes—the HTC Thunderbolt is still not available for sale. But hey, maybe soon. After all, one of these incorrect ads are bound to be correct at some point. The app has just recently come available for WP7 and as a Runkeeper user on another platform, I can say that this is one app that is always installed on my phone. And for those not familiar with the Runkeeper app, it will allow you to track the progress of your activity by using the app along with the GPS on your device. In addition to mapping your route, Runkeeper also tracks your activity stats such as as the average pace, average speed, distance, calories burned, date, time and more. Furthermore, once the workout is completed it can then be saved and uploaded to the Runkeeper website where you can further manage your progress over time. There is also the ability to share your completed workouts over Twitter, Facebook and email. According to the Marketplace Browser app listing, the features for Runkeeper include; - Activity Tracking
No need for an expensive, standalone fitness tracking device when you can use your Windows Phone to do the same thing. Now you can track how far you went, how long it took you, and the route you traveled right from your phone
- Personal Dashboard
Store all historical activities on runkeeper.com, where you can keep track of totals and monitor your progress
- Maps integration
See the exact path you traveled on a map, both on the device and on our website
- Activity Sharing
Share your activities with friends via email, or by posting them to your favorite social sites, including Facebook and Twitter
All said and done, the one drawback about using Runkeeper with WP7 (that I can see) is that the device does not allow for multi-tasking across all apps. In other words, if you are using Runkeeper you will have to listen to music with the built-in music app as opposed to something along the lines of Pandora or Slacker. That said, Runkeeper is still awesome and that drawback is not any fault of their own.
