    Dendreon Corp (NASDAQ: DNDN) shares have spiraled high just before trade was halted at 12:34 pm EST. The stock made a jump on a Fox Business report of the FDA approving Dendreon’s PROVENGE as a late-stage treatment for prostate cancer.

    This approval was long awaited by shareholders, traders and people suffering from advanced prostate cancer.

    Akamai Technologies (NASDAQ: AKAM) released their quarterly earnings numbers after the closing bell last night. The company reported earnings per share of $0.35 compared to analysts' estimates of $0.31. In the year ago period, AKAM reported EPS of $0.43. Year-over-year revenues increased by 14.1%.

    Homebuilders made headlines late last week, thanks to news that existing home sales increased by 6.8% last month. In addition, the Commerce Department reported that new home sales skyrocketed 27% in March, marking the largest percentage gain since April 1963.

    Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (NASDAQ: GMCR) has released their quarterly earnings report. The company reported non-GAAP net income for their fiscal second quarter of $27.8 million, or $0.60 per share. This was a 114% increase year over year, from $13 million, or $0.33 per share in last year's quarter.

    It would appear that the saga surrounding Palm, Inc. (NASDAQ: PALM) has been resolved. Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) has announced that they have agreed to acquire the distressed smartphone maker for $1.2 billion, or $5.70 per PALM common share. H-P will pay cash in the deal.
