Section: Video, Content, Video Providers Based on the graph below, Netflix instant streaming seems to be picking up at a pretty good level. Of course, that can most likely be expected due to the fact that the watch instantly category is growing and actually has a pretty decent amount of content to choose from. But at the same time, the fact that you can stream Netflix from such a wide variety of devices does not hurt either. At this rate it looks like the streaming rate for 2010 will top that of 2009, and as you can see, the streaming for this year alone has already beaten 2008. I stream Netflix, in fact I watched Stand By Me last night using my shiny new Netflix Wii streaming disc. Section: Communications, Cellphones, Smartphones, Mobile Notifications are coming to the Facebook app on webOS, well, technically speaking they are already there. At least there in the latest beta version of the app. Anyway, according to a recent posting over on the Palm Developer Center Blog, the Facebook Beta app for webOS has been updated to version 1.1.2 and that means notifications. The notification alerts will comes in the form of a little red badge in the top left corner of the app and when tapped it will present a drop down menu that will show you the latest updates. Also a nice point is that the notifications include messages and friend requests. The notifications will now also include background notifications. As of now the background notifications will show just like any other webOS style message and alert you of the most recent update. Additionally, a few other fixes and changes were included in version 1.1.2, those include; - Keyboard shortcuts now use our native "gesture area + key" support which includes a drop down "Navigate to…." area.
- Formatting of content has been fixed (blank lines separating content)
- No HTML tags in Inbox (no more br)
- If you launch the Facebook app when already running, refresh the feed a la Tweed

Section: Communications, Mobile, Computers, Wireless  Time Warner Cable has teamed up with rival Comcast to offer free WiFi to its RoadRunner High Speed Internet customers in New York City. They can now take advantage of Cablevision's hotspots located across the city. According to Cablevision over 2 million people have use the hotspots already and rumor has it that the free network will be increasing. According to some reports, Xfinity has been spotted among Cablevision's wireless networks. Xfinity is Comcast's new name. Could the big three cable providers be teaming up in the internet arena? There have been no official announcements but if so, they could provide stiff competition to the wireless broadband services offered by cellular providers and to the broadband offered by telecommunications companies like Verizon.

Yup, it has recently made its required FCC appearance and seems to have made it though without issue. As for details that come from the visit, nothing overly shocking was discovered, but that said there is still one little tidbit. For example, the model number was P121UNA—in other words, its a Pixi that is US GSM compatible. Still, this does not change the vague time frame of “in the coming months” that AT&T seems to be sticking by. Section: Apple, Gadgets / Other, ebooks  AppAdvice is reporting that the iPad will ship with over 30,000 free ebooks, courtesy of Project Gutenberg. While that may sound enticing, it's important to note that all the books are public domain titles, meaning they are quite old. Most are versions of the classics. Readers who are looking for new and recent bestsellers will have to purchase them from the iBookstore. They'll be DRM'd of course, and despite the recent rumblings of a price war between Apple and Amazon, the word is now that most of Apple's ebooks will be at the same $9.99 price point as Amazon. Will that make the iPad a Kindle killer? That remains to be seen but it will probably give the device a run for its money

Section: Computers, Mobile Computers  After missing its release dates of February 25th and of March 25th, the JooJoo will finally be in our hands by March 29th. Today (March 26th), Fusion Garage released a press release stating that JooJoo’s had begun shipping from the factory.
