External battery packs are totally useful, that is, until you happen to forget the cable. There's nothing worse than having a need unfulfilled because of just one missing element. Fortunately, some manufacturers, such as Innovative Technology, has taken this into consideration. You're not going to lose a cable that's built-into the battery itself! Design The size of the Justin 5400mAh Power Bank is not bad for the capacity. It's a touch larger than others, mostly due to the built-in wall prong and cables. But that there is the charm and convenience. This external battery pack is self-sufficient so long as you have access to a free wall socket. Forgot your charging cables? Who cares! It has one each for Lightning and Micro USB compatible devices. There is also a standard USB port at the bottom works with any cable type you have lying around. Moderately sized with standard 4-LED indicators. If you hate the look of your fingerprints, prepare to be irked. This battery is all gloss, all prints, all the time. One useful solution to keep on hand would be a pocket toddy. Great for your other gadgets, too. Although the Justin power bank has more bulk than it does weight, it's still quite portable. The construction of this battery pack is good, basic. There isn't anything exceptional about it, except maybe the pair of cables, which are thick and sufficiently flexible. They lie flush alongside the battery and tuck in at the top. You get a small little bump on the end of the plug to push in order to extract them. The Lightning and Micro USB cables may not extend far, but they're long enough to get the job done. At first, tucking the tips back into the locked position takes a bit of effort. But once the cables have had a bit of stretch and movement, they slide in smoothly and stay in place. While this battery can plug easily into power strips, I find it to be better suited… Continue reading TechnologyTell Review: Justin 5400mAh Power Bank The post TechnologyTell Review: Justin 5400mAh Power Bank appeared first on GadgeTell. Business PC consumers, hardcore gamers and power users in general might be boiling with rage at the sound of such a preposterous (for them) industry trend, but sometimes, raw speed is simply not the goal. Instead, it's affordability and, above all, ultra-compact form factors that many a desktop manufacturer are after these days with so-called mini PCs. Or, as Dell seemingly likes to market them,… Continue reading Smaller is better: Dell unveils ‘big-potential’ Inspiron Micro Desktop The post Smaller is better: Dell unveils ‘big-potential’ Inspiron Micro Desktop appeared first on GadgeTell. It's not very often that one finds multiple, totally incredible projects funding on Kickstarter all at the same time. I think that the hardest part of it all is having to choose which one(s) to support while staying within the gadget budget! But if you want something to distract and excite during the long workday, here are three most-excellent Kickstarter campaigns worthy of attention. It's easy to forget about past electronics once a shiny new upgrade is in the hands. Unfortunately, all of that material and circuitry end up taking a long journey to some landfill to sit and wither away. When you think about it and crunch numbers, there is a lot of waste when it comes to mobile devices and the rate that consumers choose to replace 'old' models. It doesn't matter if you're slightly eco-conscious or simply want to save a buck in the long run, but people and the earth can benefit from the Better Re Upcycling Power Pack. The idea is so simple, but the impact is huge! The Better Re lets users create an external battery pack out of old smartphone batteries. Or, you can use it as a universal battery charger for your spare battery for your latest device. Lithium batteries can have a long lifespan, maintaining at least 80 percent of maximum capacity two years later. The Better Re is tooless, expandable, uses eco-friendly material, and will check smartphone batteries and inform when they're truly dead and… Continue reading Don't miss these must-have, eco-friendly Kickstarter gadgets The post Don't miss these must-have, eco-friendly Kickstarter gadgets appeared first on GadgeTell. | |
