So you're looking to get a shiny, brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Excellent choice! But before you crack that package open to enjoy your latest toy, you'll want to make sure you're protected. For such a large smartphone, or 'phablet', a slim case and screen protector should be considered the minimum. If you want options, PureGear is worth looking into. Design & Installation Slim cases are probably my favorite to use on smartphones. You get that minimalist kind of feel, yet without skimping out on material to completely cover the body. I don't know about you, but I like my gadgets in tip-top condition, scratch-free. And that's exactly what the PureGear Slim Shell case for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 does through and through.  Black may be standard, but totally transparent is more fun. There's a choice between two flavors (at least of the time of this review): totally clear, and clear with a black border. Personally, since my Note 4 is dazzling white, I prefer the all-clear case. The PureGear Slim Shell is a single-piece case consisting of a combination of polycarbonate and TPU materials. The harder polycarbonate covers the back, providing shape and rigidity. The more flexible TPU rounds the sides and edges. The installation is easy. Just pop it in. Need it back out? Work one corner, then the next. And if you happen to be one who switches smartphone batteries like I do, single-piece cases are the most convenient. The PureGear Slim Shell case fits my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 like a glove. It's got an excellent contour that even captures the smartphone's subtle indent on the sides. Unlike the more rugged PureGear Dualtek case for the Note 4, the Slim Shell has very responsive button covers. You don't need to use more force than if your smartphone were naked. The buttons coverings rise out from the case body by 1mm, which makes it easy to feel without looking. I don't like it when case buttons are too seamless, especially when it comes to the volume rocker. The PureGear Slim Shell case does not add much width or bulk to the already large Galaxy Note 4 smartphone. Unfortunately, it doesn't really add much for grip either. The body is smooth without any extra contours for palms to mould around. Just keep this in mind if you're one who tends to drop things. Three little nubs exist on the back of the case, but they're not meant for grip. They just prevent an accelerated collection of surface scratches by raising the case up and off of surfaces. Depending on your level of OCD, this clear case may be the worst thing ever. It's not the scratches or the fingerprints on the surface, even though those will come.
