TechnologyTell Review: Genius Pack high altitude flight bag and more

TechnologyTell Review: Genius Pack high altitude flight bag

When you have lots of gear to carry, the right gadget bag is a must. But, today, bags aren’t just some zippered containers to hoard contents and free up your hands and pockets. They are as much a fashion statement as shoes, jewelry, and accessories. One can spend a lot of time browsing online for the perfect bags for various occasions.

So what’s the latest on my review table? It’s the Genius Pack. Read on to find out if it’s really travel-worthy or just a one-trick pony!

Design

The Genius Pack high altitude flight bag fits in the category of messenger bags for tablets or small laptops. It’s the kind of light-duty bag for those interested in carrying the essentials without being burdened by more. Unlike some other bags available on the market, the Genius Pack keeps zippers and pockets to a sublime minimum.

Not so sure about the color..

Both zippered compartments open wide for easy access to contents. The front area provides room and labeled pockets for smaller items and accessories. The suggestions, printed in bold white, indicate the ideal locations for pens, business cards, headphones, charger, device, and passport.

The rear compartment has a felt-lined pocket for a tablet (or small laptop), with the rest of it open for documents or magazines. They, too, are also labeled.

Since it has been designed with travel in mind, the Genius Pack provides a (removeable) shoulder strap with adjustable pad, a carrying handle, and luggage handle pass-through. But what’s different and unique to the Genius Pack are the two sets of velcro straps tucked under the pass-through area. These straps let you hang the entire Genius Pack on an airplane tray in its upright position.

This design allows users to have quick access to gear without having to reach down to rummage through a personal bag under the seat in front. Or without having loose items lying on laps or in pockets. Everything you have is conveniently there in front of you.

The Genius Pack is made mostly of nylon and polyester. Although…

Qualcomm pushes mid-end mobile envelope with four new Snapdragon chips

Snapdragon processorsNot content with “just” dominating supplies of high-end processors to industry-leading smartphone manufacturers, Qualcomm is making a big push to take MediaTek out of business and gain complete control on the mid-range mobile market as well.

In all honesty though, we’re having a hard time describing the just-announced Snapdragon 618 and 620 as mid-end chips. The former is hexa-core, the latter…

Minor bug-fixing 5.0.2 updates go out to various Android Wear watches

Android Wear 5.0.2It’s time for a new flavor of Lollipop to spruce up the software on the lauded but underperforming Android Wear smartwatches. Alas, it isn’t build 5.1 or 5.2 that’s rapidly spreading around the “ecosystem”, but instead 5.0.2.

It’s probably not a big deal therefore, although you’ll still want to patch it over your aging 5.0.1 systems. At least to be fully prepared for…

Samsung SM-G930 model number hints at possible Galaxy Round sequel

samsung-galaxy-roundAs time went by, and Samsung’s Galaxy Round experiment couldn’t hold a candle to its opposing LG G Flex, it seemed safe to predict no follow-up was coming. After all, in terms of curvy handhelds, Sammy switched its focus to a separate franchise, the side screen-sporting Edge.

But now, 16 long months after the introduction of…

Oh no, Samsung is actually considering 2,600 mAh battery for Galaxy S6

Galaxy S6 batteryOne of the final Galaxy S6 puzzle pieces seems to have fallen neatly into place, and… it’s not good. As rumored, the battery inside the “next big thing” tips the scales at 2,600 mAh, or so a covert photo shoot of a Chinese assembly line suggests.

That’s the opposite of “big”. It’s tiny, even compared to Galaxy…

LG G Flex 2 goes up for Sprint pre-orders, costs only $504 on full retail

LG_G_Flex_2Sprint has neither confirmed, nor denied T-Mobile’s claims of a recent switch between the two in the US carrier ranks, with Magenta purportedly overtaking the Now Network by a whisker. But the historical number three is obviously feeling the pressure, pulling the trigger on the uber-desirable LG G Flex 2 early, and asking an unusually low price for it.

The second-gen “banana…
