TechnologyTell Review: Eone Bradley Timepiece and more

TechnologyTell Review: Eone Bradley Timepiece

With the speed at which technology advances, it's easy to get caught up in the frenzy of more power, flashy LEDs, and shiny screens. Mobile phones used to be good only for calls. And then text messages. And then basic things like note-organizer and calculator. Soon, like some sort of digital Katamari Damacy, the cell phone evolved into today's smartphones by picking up practically every useful feature possible along the way. Now, we use them more than standard laptops and desktops.

However, modern technology doesn't guarantee a slam dunk of a product. If you've ever suffered through one of Michael Bay's Transformer movies, then you know exactly what I mean. Tech and special effects aren't a guarantee of a quality product.  It takes elements of beauty and substance in order to create an impression worthy for the ages.

Smartwatches are a big thing right now, as manufacturers scramble to dominate wrist real estate. Yet, despite all the power and prowess these latest devices wield, they haven't caught on with the average consumer as much as companies would like you to believe.

So when the Bradley timepiece launched on Kickstarter, it was kind of a big thing. Still is. Despite having no LEDs or fancy technology, the project breached the half a million dollar mark. It just goes to show that quality design can stand all on its own and succeed.

Design

The Bradley timepiece is just that. A timepiece. It's not a watch. Sure, it resembles a watch in many ways. But naming the Bradley a watch is like calling a sundial a clock. It's not the same and shouldn't be categorized as such. However, each of these objects are classified as timepieces, since they do track and record time in their own ways.

Eone Bradley Timepiece front

Quite stunning in its simplicity

It's hard not to stare at the Bradley timepiece, considering how very different it is from any other wrist-mounted accessory. One can spend hundreds (or more) on the latest digital smartwatch or intricate designer watch. I can't say that I've ever stopped someone to comment on his/her watch. In fact, I can't remember the last time I've observed one remarking on another's watch that was not feigned interest for the sake of conversation or flattery.

Wearing the Bradley timepiece out in public makes me feel like its keeper, with the way it draws gazes from those paying attention and/or who have a sense of style.

From the point of opening the box to fitting and wearing the Bradley, modern elegance is the recurring design theme. Even the included booklet, created of…

How Millennials are investing: With an app, duh

I'm at that age where I'm still collecting special-occasion money from my distant family, but I'm also raking in the grown-up, boot-strapping American workforce money. I went to school for free, live with my parents, subsist on the Taco Bell dollar menu, and only shop for status symbols when Santa Claus drops a check signed by my Grandmom into my stocking. Because of this questionable/beneficial pseudo-adult behavior, I have a big ol' pile of untouched doll hairs sitting in the bank. I call this account "The American Dream" and I check it every morning over my $6 Starbucks and cackle while I read hate mail from angry Baby Boomers.

Obviously, living this way leaves a lot of money left over for things like investing. But what kind of Millennial invests? The market bodes about as welcoming as the lawless Wild…
