Google quietly releases Field Trip Android app to help you explore places

Google-owned company Niantic Labs has just released a new location-aware app for Android called Field Trip. As its name suggests, this app lets you go on a field trip, sort of, via a location-aware feature that runs in the background on your Android phone. The trick here is that as soon as you get closer to something interesting, the app kicks in and pops up a card giving you details about your current location. You don't need to click on anything, the app works automatically. Even cooler is if you have a headset or earphone on as the…

Camera+ now available for the iPad, also updated for the iPhone

We are not all that certain if this is good news, or simply news that will convince people that it is ok to begin taking pictures with their iPad on a regular basis. That worry aside though, the potentially good news is that the much-loved third-party camera app for the iPhone, Camera+ is now available for the iPad. Keep in mind though, the iPad version of Camera+ is arriving as a separate app — no universal love here. But shifting back to the positive, the app is (for a limited time) priced at a low $0.99. Anyway, Camera+ for iPad has launched at version 1.0 and with support for iOS 5.0 or later. The app brings some iPad only features which break down as follows;

  • Brush on…
