Back when I had my iPhone 3S one of my favorite accessories was the OWLE Bubo. And well, needless to say, my iPhone 3G eventual became an iPhone 4 and now an iPhone 4S and I have been missing that setup. But today comes with a bit of good news, it looks like an updated model (or the OWLE Bubo) has been released with support for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. Except, we should point out that this one comes with a brand new name — the PHOCUS Accent. The PHOCUS Accent is currently available for sale and is selling for $99.95. As of right now, the product listing is showing an “expected ship date” of March 5th. Otherwise, as to what your (just shy of) $100 will get you — a camera lens mount that is made of high-impact glass filled nylon that weighs in at “just under” 10 ounces. Additional features and perks of the PHOCUS Accent include a textured grip, three “carefully placed” tripod mounts, a shoe mount for attaching a microphone or flash and a 37mm threaded mount. Oh and, the PHOCUS Accent also ships with a wide angle / macro combo lens to get you started. Bottom line here, I was a huge fan of the OWLE Bubo and am super stoked to learn of the PHOCUS Accent and hope to have one in hand soon. Via [Phocus]
We have recently learned that Netflix was not going to offer up any love for the BlackBerry PlayBook, or any BlackBerry for that matter — however it is looking like the not-always-well-liked tablet will soon be getting a new life as a 4G LTE device. The details are coming by way of a leaked screen capture and are showing a BlackBerry PlayBook LTE as coming in “Early April.” That being said, this is not the first time we have heard of such a device. In fact, it was this time last year when RIM stated that they would be launching “two additional BlackBerry 4G PlayBook tablets.” One of which would be an HSPA+ device and the other being an LTE device. Of course, we should point out that those devices were expected to be released during the “second half of 2011.” Needless to say, we suppose better late than never. Via [MobileSyrup]
If you happen to be one of the lucky few that are running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, it looks like Google has released an updated version of the Chrome browser. The app is still noted as being in beta, however it has gone up to version 0.16.4215.215. Aside from the change in version number though, it looks like Google has taken care of what they are describing as some “essential” bug fixes. Additionally, this latest build is also noted as bringing the following; - Android Beam support – now beam URLs from Chrome to other devices with NFC
- Support for additional countries
- Compatibility checks to ensure system prerequisites for Chrome are met
That being said, those with Chrome for Android already installed (or those looking to install it for the first time) can grab their Ice Cream Sandwich running device and fire up the Android Market. Via [Android Market] and [Google Chrome Releases]
Still waiting on the official word from Rogers on this one, however according to some tipsters of the MobileSyrup tech blog, it looks like the Sony Xperia Arc S will be available next week. Otherwise, nothing specific as to which day next week. The pricing is also still in the unconfirmed category, however it is looking like it will be $30 on a three-year agreement or $475 for those looking to go no-term. The Xperia Arc S is said to be coming Sony Ericsson branded as opposed to Sony branded and will bring features to include Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread along with a 4.2 inch display, 1.4GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. And lastly, the handset should get a new dessert in the form of Ice Cream Sandwich sometime around the end of March or beginning of April. Via [MobileSyrup]
No word yet on the Lumia 900, however it looks like those who are either current customers of, or willing to become a customer of Telus will be able to pick up the Lumia 800 in just a few days time. The handset has gotten a confirmed release date and that date is coming up quickly — it will be available on March 2nd. That being said, while it is nice to see an official release date offered by the carrier — it looks like they are going to hold back on offering the price points. Otherwise, judging from the listing on the Telus website, it appears as if the Lumia 800 will be available in three colors — black, cyan and magenta. Via [Telus] and [MobileSyrup]
HTC has recently begun blogging, seriously, they launched their ‘HTC blog’ just a few days back and it appears as if they are already on the right track. And by that we mean they have begun the teasing. The latest HTC post comes just a day after the launch of the blog and offers a look at something that they will be unveiling during Mobile World Congress. Well, more accurately, they are showing a look at a box filled with a whole bunch of items that are individually wrapped in bubble wrap. We only hope that it is something new. That said, I guess HTC is another company that we need to pay close attention to over the next week or so. Via [HTC Blog] Acer is set to unveil its latest smartphone at the 2012 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Yes, it’s an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich device and it’s called the Acer Liquid Glow. The Liquid Glow features a 3.7-inch screen with nice curves, chrome deails and a soft-touch casing. It also features a 5MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, panoramic image capture and touch focus. As mentioned, the device runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and as such has the Android Beam feature which lets you share photos to another NFC-enabled device via single tap. For those who are unaware, Android Beam also lets you share contacts, apps, music or videos via NFC. The Acer Liquid Glow will be available in various colors including Sakura Pink, Alpine White and Cat’s-eye Black. It’s scheduled for release this summer. Now, that’s something to look out for during Mobile World Congress. Via [Acer] More Recent Articles | |
