House of Marley Bag of Rhythm is now available for $349.99 and more

House of Marley Bag of Rhythm is now available for $349.99

House of Marley Bag of Rhythm

House of Marley’s portable boombox is finally coming to market after months of teasing.

The House of Marley Bag of Rhythm is a giant portable boombox for your iOS device or any portable device with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The boombox’s giant 4-inch speakers will give you a ton of sound. I was able to see it working at CES this year, and the sound will definitely fill a small room, or a large outdoor radius. Plus you’ll be able to carry it around by the handles, hanging from the shoulder strap, or you can hold it on your shoulder as you would an old-school boombox.

At $349.99 the Bag of Rhythm isn’t exactly inexpensive, but it seems to be worth the price. You get the huge portable sound with an internal battery or just plain batteries. Plus, it’s made of entirely recycled materials, so you get not just a great portable speaker, but one that’s environmentally friendly as well. Current orders will ship between February 15-18, so it misses the cutoff for an expensive, Valentine’s Day gift, but you’ll get it in time before and Spring adventures you might be planning.

Plants vs Zombies lands on the BlackBerry PlayBook

Plants vs Zombies

PopCap continues to make sure its games are available on every platform available, as Plants vs Zombies is now available on the BlackBerry PlayBook.

The popular tower defense game where your walls of plants protect a house from an army of zombies should be in the App World right now, though these is no available direct link. Like all other versions, the PlayBook game has 50 levels where you can defeat zombies on the front yard, the back yard with a pool, and the roof, during the day or at night. It’s a fun game, and one that you should probably have no excuse for not playing, unless you exclusively use Linux on your PCs and BlackBerry mobile devices.

Expect the game to be somewhere between $5 and $10 as it is on other platforms. It’s well worth the money, especially if you haven’t played it on another platform before. It might just be the only game you’ll ever need on the PlayBook, which is good because there aren’t too many other great games for the device.

Things that seem clear, this New York restaurant thinks Verizon Sucks [Image]

What can you really say here, it seems pretty clear that this business thinks “Verizon Sucks.” And well, while the image appears to convey their feelings rather clearly, we cannot help but think how refreshing it is to see someone take their frustration out in such an old-school way. Of course, we suspect that the owner and employees were probably also using the usual methods — Twitter and/or Facebook. That being said, the image came out of New York and by way of a reader from The Consumerist.

Google Bar gets a new design, retains the unified search box and easy Google+ goodies

Google may have originally introduced the Google Bar several months back, however they have since returned with a newly tweaked version of it. The details are coming by way of the Official Google Blog where they break it down as follows;

“Based on your feedback, we realized there were some elements of the new bar that we could improve, and with that in mind, we're introducing an updated version that we believe will provide a better experience.”

In terms of this update, the biggest change will be how Google replaced the drop-down menu with a “consistent and expanded set of links running across the top of the page.” Otherwise, the Google Bar retains some of the key features which include Google+ notifications, easy Google+ sharing and the unified search box.

With that, Google noted that this new version will be rolling out over the next few weeks which means you may or may not be seeing it just yet. And if not, rest assured in knowing that change is coming.

T-Mobile Nokia Astound will not be getting the Symbian Belle update

If you happened to be one of those who purchased the Nokia Astound with T-Mobile, well, we have a bit of disappointing news to pass on — your handset will not be getting an update to Belle. The details have come by way of the @NokiaUS Twitter account where they state rather simply;

“Unfortunately the Nokia Astound on T-Mobile will not be updated to Nokia Belle.”

That being said, this comes as particularly disappointing news because the Nokia C7 (the non-US version of the Astound) will be getting Belle. And while this is pure speculation, we suspect that the reason the Astound is not getting the update is because T-Mobile does not want to go through the required carrier testing process. And in the end, it looks like we have another case of a handset that will no longer get major updates despite it being well within the current batch of two-year user agreements.

Kindle for Android update brings page numbers

Just a quick note to inform all of you who are using Kindle app on your Android device. You might want to check out your app’s update states to get the updated version of this Android app. There’s really not much new features but the update brings in one nice feature that many Kindle app users have been waiting for – real page numbers. This simply means that you can now track your reading progress with page numbers that are similar to how the printed book is numbered. The new feature available for thousands of titles from the Kindle Store. Why is this important? Well, for some who still reads a particular ebook title simultaneously with the printed book, this feature will help them to continue reading on the last page they’ve read, whether on the ebook or printed edition. Aside from real page numbers, the update has also reduced the app’s size and fixed several bugs. Kindle for Android is available now as a free download from the Android Market.
