Readability iOS and Android apps are done and awaiting release

Perhaps you’ve heard of Readability, the free online service that lets you save web articles offline in an easy-to-read format. Since its debut, Readability has been lacking a dedicated app. Its users have relied on a HTML5 website to access all of their reading material. On Monday, the Readability app development team announced its iOS and Android apps are done and will be released very soon.

The Readability Android and iOS apps are developed by Teehan+Lax, but they aren’t the ones who works on Readability’s web site. Their iOS app has had a difficult time getting through Apple’s review process, but there doesn’t appear to be any problems getting the Android app through to the Android Market.

Readability as a whole is gaining traction by expanding its service into other apps such as Pulse, Tweetbot, The Early Edition 2 and more.

The Angry Birds come crashing onto Facebook as a Flash game

Tired of playing Angry Birds on your phone or tablet? Well, Rovio is giving us another avenue to play their very popular game, this time on Facebook. Angry Birds on Facebook, a Flash-based game is now available and comes with several features unique only to this version. These features come by way of in-game options which will make it easier for you to finish the game in a flash, such as shaking the game screen or selectively targeting a specific pig. According to Rovio, there are four types of power-ups that you can access and use. These are Super Seeds, King Sling, Sling Scope, and Birdquake. The last time I played Angry Birds on my iPad, I think the only power-up or special option available via in-game purchase is the Mighty Eagle (forgive me if what I know is outdated since it’s been ages since I last played Angry Birds).  All these power-ups have different effects but with a single purpose – to make it easier for you to finish the game.

Another nice feature of Angry Birds on Facebook is the facility to challenge your friends in beating each others scores. Additionally, you can also gift power-ups to your friends via the Mystery Gift option. This is however limited to one per friend each day. You can also receive power-ups via daily rewards which is given to you if you visit Angry Birds on Facebook consecutively everyday or if you purchase via the Angry Birds shop.

So, what do you think, folks? Are you ready to take Angry Birds on Facebook for a new spin, or you’re already tired of the game?

The Evernote 30 Day Fitness Challenge begins tomorrow [Reminder Post]

It seems like more and more folks are talking about fitness lately. More specifically, more and more folks are talking about using technology to help them with their fitness lately. And of that chatter, we have the Evernote 30-Day Fitness Challenge which was announced a few days back — and it begins tomorrow (February 15th). Anyway, the challenge seems simple enough and hopefully that will be enough to convince a few people to participate. Here is how the challenge is being described;

  • Choose any combination of the four challenges presented below.
  • Create a notebook called '30 Day Fitness Challenge," or something more motivational, like "30 Days to a new Kasey." Don't forget to replace Kasey with your name.
  • Every day you complete a challenge, take note of it in your challenge notebook. Take photos to track before and afters, and maybe even clip some motivational articles to help you along. [see Chad's tips for ways to use Evernote to track your progress]
  • Join the Fitness discussion forum to share your experience, tips, talk with other users participating in the challenge, and connect with Chad. Remember, having group support helps you to stay motivated!

And sure, while Evernote is using this as a way to get people to use their Evernote accounts — we suspect the more important part here is simply doing the work, regardless of where you save the details. Of course, given Evernote is free (and also a service that we love here at Gadgetell) we also suggest using Evernote. Below are the fitness and nutritional challenges, of which you are expected to pick any combination of the two.

2 Fitness Challenges:

  • 100 sit ups per day. This can be done in one chunk or spread out through the day. You have the option to scale this down to 50. Pick a number and commit!
  • 100 stairs per day. You can split this up throughout the day, or reduce the total number, but again, pick a set number and stick to it.

2 Nutritional Challenges:

  • Water only. Do not consume any other fluids besides water for the next 30 days. If that's too challenging, you can also choose to only omit alcohol and soda.
  • No sugar. This one might seem simple at first, until you realize how many things contain sugar. Chad usually allows people to define what this means for them (ie: no sweets and candy, but fruit and sauces are okay).

With that, make sure you hit the via link below to get the complete set of details — especially the parts about sharing your progress on Twitter.
