Google has just announced that it is merging one of its commerce-related services, Google Checkout to another commerce-related service, Google Wallet. Consequently, once the two services have been fully merged, the combined service will now be called Google Wallet. Look out world, Amazon may be building a smartphone

What could be better than Amazon throwing its store inside a $200 tablet? How about throwing its store into a smartphone? Amazon apparently has plans to release a smartphone in 2012 according to a research report by Citi analysts. The analysts believe Foxconn will assist Amazon in development, but manufacturing will be done by the same company that makes Kindles. Spec-wise, Amazon's smartphone is believed to have a Texas Instruments OMAP processor, carry a 4-inch display and feature an eight megapixel camera. A few months ago Netflix signed a deal to stream Miramax movies in the US and Latin America, and now the two companies announced a deal for the United Kingdom and Ireland as well.
