Nuance Dragon Express lands in the Mac App Store on sale for $49.99

Siri may be stuck on the iPhone 4S for now, but your Mac can get some voice commands with the new Nuance Dragon Express app. Dragon Express comes from dictation industry leader Nuance, and is essentially a pared-down version of Dragon Dictate. Dragon Express takes a few simple commands (though Nuance claims you don’t need to remember any key word commands) to paste your words into native apps, or to use your spoken phrases for searches both on the web and on your Mac. There’s even an option to send your phrases to Twitter of Facebook after you give the…

More and more children these days are going to be exposed totablets. In the future, the memory of using tablets is going to be as normal for them as the See ‘n Say was for people my age. Leak points to budget Sprint Express coming soon

A leaked Sprint playbook has an image that points to an interesting new BlackBerry-styled Android phone coming to the network. The phone you see above is the Sprint Express, and looks to be a rebranded Huawei Boulder. It’s a low-to-mid-range Android smartphone featuring a 2.6-inch touchscreen and a physical keyboard reminiscent of almost any BlackBerry you can think of. The phone is running Android 2.3 powered by a 600MHz CPU, with a 3.2MP rear-facing camera and a 1500mAh battery. It’s billed as costing $19.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. Seems like a decent phone for a teenager, or someone who…

RIM will continue to support Flash on the PlayBook

Adobe may be willing to abandon mobile Flash, but Research In Motion won’t just stop supporting one of the selling points for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Despite Adobe’s announcement, RIM will continue to support Flash on the PlayBook. That means RIM has a lot of work ahead of it to make sure Flash runs well on future iterations of the PlayBook, and the 2.0 version of the OS that’s slated for February. Of course, RIM is also behind Adobe’s plans to focus on HTML5, to make sure PlayBook users don’t get left out in the cold by the changing web standards.…

Apple's hidden keyword bar in iOS 5 combats autocorrect

Apple’s autocorrect system for iOS has always been a frustrating and often hilarious experience. We now come to expect iOS devices to input words that we had no intention of typing. There are even entire websites dedicated to the amusement that arises when dealing with autocorrect. Apple is well aware of this problem and are working on a way to make autocorrect more accurate. In fact, part of the solution is buried within iOS 5 in the form of a keyword bar. iOS tinkerer Sonny Dickson found an Android-like keyword bar within iOS 5 code. If you’re unfamiliar with Android…

T-Mobile has a decent Q3, Q4 is going to be a different story

T-Mobile reported its financial situation for the third quarter of 2011 today. All in all, T-Mobile did pretty good. In fact, T-Mobile saw its service revenues increase by one percent to $4.67 billion. That’s better than last quarter, but less than a percent worse than Q3 2011. On the customer side of things, T-Mobile gained 126,000 customers. Again, this was better than last quarter, but worse than Q3 2010. T-Mobile is also seeing continued growth in smartphone purchases with 10.1 million people using its 3G and 4G networks. Things are quite sunny right now, but it will likely go downhill…

Amazon Appstore updated with new look

Just days before the Kindle Fire arrives in thousands of locations across the United States, Amazon gave its Amazon Appstore for Android a bit of a makeover. The pure white background has been replaced with a dark background, and as far as I can tell, the Appstore has a slightly larger font. The color scheme is persistent throughout the app. You still have access to the top 100 free and paid apps from the homepage. Another notable change is how Amazon draws the eye to its free app of the day. It’s the only thing on the page that has…

If you had any questions or simply wanted to know a bit more about the Roboto font that will arrive with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, then you may want to check out this Google+ posting from Matias Duarte. Facebook now lets you replace Top Stories with recent posts

When Facebook revealed some big changes to the site in September, it was met with expected criticism. One of the changes dealt with how Facebook presents posts to you. It began implementing what it calls “Top Stories” that are comprised of posts Facebook thinks you want to see first. The problem with that feature is Facebook frequently wrongly estimates the posts that matter most to you. You could find the same person near the top of your News Feed all the time even though you’ve never communicated with them over Facebook before. Even if you constantly tell Facebook the top…
