Home for the holidays: 5 gadget gifts for your kids in college

I've developed a trick or two when it comes to the annual Black Friday shopping season, one of which is zeroing in on what I want to buy before I embark on that infamous night of craziness. When the festivities erupt on that Thanksgiving night, I want to be ready (and NOT forced to come up with ideas in the midst of volatile hordes of shoppers).

But there are certain loved ones who happen to be particularly difficult to buy gifts for. Honestly, who ever really knows what to get college students these days? What do you buy for an 18 to 23-year-old who is currently living a dynamic, hectic and often unpredictable existence in higher academia?
