TechnologyTell Review: Penclic B3 Bluetooth Mouse

Last year, I had the opportunity to test out and review the Penclic B2 Bluetooth Mouse. It's a fantastic mouse with a very innovative design, meant to provide greater comfort and reduction in strain. Despite the areas which it excels, the Penclic B2 is not without drawbacks. Namely, the use of the buttons and scroll wheel tends to be quite awkward.

True to the company vision, Penclic has pushed forward with another iteration of their pen-mouse, the Penclic B3. This is the latest, upgraded model of a cleverly-reinvented product. Curious about Penclic's innovation? Read on!

Design & Connectivity

The Penclic B3 mouse is different from any kind of mouse you've ever used. Even from other ergonomic mice out there. I'm sure it's plain to see, as it looks like a classy pen attached to a travel mouse as a base. It works just the same way, too. One uses the pen to move the mouse around for cursor movement. If you really wanted, you could just push the base and ignore the pen. But that completely misses out on function and charm.

Neat box. The cloth bag keeps the B3 clean

One holds the Penclic B3 mouse as a normal writing instrument. We've spent so many years growing up writing, that it's a very natural thing. The pen both rotates and swivels about the z-axis, which provides a wide range of fluid positions. Whether you hold pens vertically, or are more laid-back with your style, this mouse provides it all.

Compared to its predecessor, the Penclic B2, the Penclic B3 has a more simplified, mouse-like look to it. Two buttons flank a scroll wheel, just as you'd find on any standard mouse. This new universal design allows for both right- and left-handed use. If you had ever looked at the B2 and wished it would work for lefties, well now you have the Penclic B3. It significantly improves the comfort and handling, too.

The bottom of the mouse has the door for the battery, Bluetooth connection button, and a sensitivity switch. The glide pads for feet raise the Penclic B3 just enough, while providing slick smooth movement.  Bluetooth connectivity is automatic. I've had no problem pairing it with a Windows 8.1 laptop and Android smartphone.

Included in the box is a retractable cable, rechargeable AAA battery, and a soft cloth case. I recommend to not lose the cable, unless you're prepared to trim back part of the tip of an existing Micro USB cable. The way the USB charge port is situated requires more length or a…
