TechnologyTell Review: FreshETech All-Terrain Sound Speaker and more

TechnologyTell Review: FreshETech All-Terrain Sound Speaker

Contrary to popular belief, rugged speakers aren't only for summertime use. Trust me. One can find much adventure and trouble outside of the few summer months. But even if you're not big on outdoor activity, rugged and/or waterproof speakers are great in and around the home. Backyard? Bathtub? Don't let your imagination ruin the possibilities and limit how and where you can listen to music. Especially with a speaker as small as  the FreshETech All-Terrain Sound.

Design & Connectivity

The FreshETech All-Terrain Sound speaker has a cool-looking, fun shape. It's like a tiny monster truck tire with a built-in carabiner. How could you not want that? The rubber treads give it that ruggedness to withstand the perils of outdoor play, yet it's also waterproof for lakeside fun. Dirt? Mud? Just rinse it off. Heck, you can toss it in a pool to clean it, as this speaker bobs and floats. It'll continue to play music too, though it might cut out here or there due to the water.

The suction cup makes speaker placement way more interesting!

Despite the construction, the All-Terrain Sound speaker is not completely immune to damage. Over time it will collect the trophies of minor scratches and marks as proof of tagging along and surviving outdoor escapades. The cool thing is that it won't necessarily look worse for it. It's likely harder to break it. Besides, there are enough pretty-too-cute shelf speakers out there, where one might want to have something different.

FreshETech doesn't leave users wanting, as the speaker comes with audio cable, USB charge cable, and a double-sided suction cup. Heck yes. The backside of the All-Terrain Sound speaker is smooth just for that purpose. Although the cup is basic, it works. Mirrors, walls, and practically anything a suction cup can stick to makes a great place to attach this speaker. This speaker is light and doesn't bear down on the suction cup to peel it off.

The only notification sounds you get with the FreshETech All-Terrain Sound speaker is powering on and off. There's…

AT&T slaps LG G3 Vigor with $335 no-contract price, debuts September 26

lg_g3_vigorUnlike Sprint, which was quieter about its LG G3 Vigor launch, AT&T chose to make a big fuss… twice, first announcing general availability information, and now adding the specifics in the equation. Yes, exact pricing and release date included.

First things first, no, the mid-range 5-inch Android isn't going to be cheaper on Ma Bell. Quite on the contrary, as…

Metallic Samsung phones galore as mystery SM-A700 pops up in India

samsung-galaxy-alphaIt sure took Samsung a long time to sink its teeth into metal-clad Galaxy devices, but as it turns out, once Samsung got the ball rolling, they couldn't get enough of the premium build material. Thus, the Alpha, once erroneously rumored a short-run experiment, is ready to spawn a number of A-Series successors.

At least three, to be specific, with the Galaxy A5, or…

LG brings KitKat to Optimus L7 II, preps L Fino for Verizon launch

LG-Optimus-L7-IIAny fans of low-cost, low-end LG mobile gear around? Great, because we have two separate, unrelated pieces of good news for you today.

First, owners of the 18-month-old Optimus L7 II should rejoice, as the P710 single-SIM variation available in parts of Europe has started receiving what seemed like a very unlikely Android 4.4 update. Why so unlikely? Because the L7 II has not only aged far from gracefully, it was never much to look at, what with…

Roaring iPhone 6 sales prompt earlier-than-planned Galaxy Note 4 rollout

apple-iphone-6-plus-vs-samsung-galaxy-note-4For the first time in years, Samsung posted what can only be described as negative financial results last quarter. Sure, Samsung still drew a profit, but it was nowhere near the mark they had anticipated.

Meanwhile, their H1 2014 flagship device, the Galaxy S5, clearly underperformed at the global box-office, in spite of a decent sales start. Needless to say there's a lot riding on the Note…

10 apps to get you in the Autumn spirit

According to my calendar and today's Google Doodle, it is officially Autumn. And while you may have already cheated the Autumnal equinox by sipping on a pumpkin spice latte (guilty), now is the acceptable time to engage in those fall activities. Unlocked first-gen Motorola Moto G drops to $160 on Amazon

moto_gWe could argue for hours on what phone is the smarter buy nowadays in the high-end spectrum, but when it comes to the budget, low to mid-end niche, everybody knows who number one is. It's Motorola's Moto G, although with an LTE-enabled flavor of the first-gen device around, as well as a larger sequel, it's become fairly difficult to pick here too.

And while you won't be sorry no matter which of the three you end up choosing, if you're only…
