TechnologyTell Review: Incipio offGRID Battery, Ghost 110

c They're not half bad at it too. Their latest iteration of a frankenstein, external battery pack has Qi wireless built in. What's that, you say? Why, Qi wireless lets you charge via wireless induction. So the latest Incipio offGRID batteries don't need to be plugged in to charge. Fancy that!

Design

The Incipio offGRID Portable Backup Battery 4000mAh is shaped sort of like a small chocolate bar. Or maybe some home speaker remote. Something nifty like that. It's a little thicker than a smartphone in slim case, yet remains thin and handheld friendly. The matte black exterior is smooth, but not slick. It doesn't catch on cloth or collect much lint or dust. Fingerprint smudges are muted and wipe off easily.

These are the goods you need to get the QI wireless charging going on

In terms of features, this battery is fairly basic. The Micro USB input port goes up to 2A, and the USB output can max at 2.1A, sufficient for most tablets. Compared to the majority of external battery packs out there, the Incipio offGRID 4000mAh is anywhere between 33 percent and 100 percent faster. This is for both charging up or charging out to your personal gadgets and devices.

Sure, the offGRID battery is good for only one device at a time, but for having 4000mAh of energy you deserve to be stingy. Other people can go get their own, right? The included USB charge cable is definitely a keeper. It has a thick cord with wide grips at each connector end. It's a fast-charge cable too, so you'll always get the most of whatever your connected device demands.

Incipio put a cute twist on the offGRID battery by making it flush along the curved edge. Not just that, but they implemented a press-hold feature for charging. A single press of the power button only lights up the battery gauge LEDs, which last for a few seconds. Requiring a press-hold helps to prevent the battery from accidentally turning on and discharging…

AT&T's Windows Phone 8.1 update tour de force reaches Nokia Lumia 1020

Nokia Lumia 1020Windows Phone fragmentation? What Windows Phone fragmentation? The mobile operating system's newest flavor, 8.1, is merely a month old, and four, count'em, four devices have already received their very early updates stateside.

The European status quo is more or less just as rosy, so I guess it's safe to say Microsoft is doing a much better job than Google in bringing its soldiers up to date. Of course,…

LG G Pad 8.0 scores 4G LTE connectivity, launches this week in Europe

LG G Pad 8.0Completely absent from the tablet game not long ago, LG made a critically acclaimed and mainstream-appealing comeback with the G Pad 8.3, but that was just the beginning. Next up, the Koreans brought to light a trio of lower-end G Pads to battle Samsung's countless Galaxy Tabs.

Only they couldn't be taken seriously in Wi-Fi only flavors. So the smallest of the bunch, the G Pad…

"This offends my delicate sensibilities. FML!"

"This offends my delicate sensibilities. FML!"

Ain't no (lame) party like a language snob party. The easily outraged have found another reason to be outraged, as the Oxford Dictionary has added dozens of new words, many of them derived from the web and social media, to OxfordDictionaries.com.

Among them: YOLO, amazeballs, side boob, adorbs, dox, cray, humblebrag and my personal favorite, douchebaggery. Check out the entire list and…

HP cooks up revised Chromebook 11 G3 with Intel Bay Trail power

HP Chromebook 11Thus far, HP has kept a consistent distance between its two Chromebook lines performance-wise, fitting the smaller, lower-end 11-inch models with ARM-based Exynos chips, and the larger, beefed-up 14 inchers with Intel Celeron processing solutions.

But apparently, the HP Chromebook 11 will before long close the gap to big bro, ditching the laggy, power-consuming…
