GadgetTell Review: SPIGEN Leather Case Argos Series for Samsung Galaxy S III

What is being reviewed?

Here, we review the SPIGEN Leather Case Argos Series, a premium, handmade leather pouch for the Samsung Galaxy S III. This case is for Galaxy S III owners who prefer a sleek and professional looking leather case for their beloved device. Being a leather pouch, its $39.99 retail price may be a tad expensive for a phone case, but you have to touch and feel the case to find out why it costs that much. Now on with our review.

The Design

As you know by now, the Galaxy S III is one of the thinnest smartphones released to date. So, SPIGEN made sure that its case won’t be adding too much bulk to the device. But then, the case is not only for aesthetic purpose but moreso for protection so SPIGEN wasn’t too successful in maintaining the thin form factor of the device. In other words, the case although being marketed as an ultra-slim stype still adds bulk to the Galaxy S III. Comparing it with the stock flip cover of my Galaxy Note, the SPIGEN case for the Galaxy S III is a few mm thicker. Still, the thickness is not a big turn-off.

According to SPIGEN, the case is made of premium genuine leather. Although I’m not an expert when it comes to leather materials, I can still say that this case is one of the best looking leather cases I’ve owned so far.

Incidentally, the case has a front flap that clips over the phone. It takes sometime getting use to this set up especially if you’re use to case covers that folds sideways instead of downwards.

The Features

To keep your Galaxy S III screen cleak and sleek, the inner wall of the front flap cover is made of micro-fiber. The case has no magnetic elements that could harm your Galaxy S III as well as any sewn part.

The case’s front flop keeps your phone in sleep mode when covered. To turn it on, you simply flip the front cover downwards and press the phone’s home button.

The case has the required cut-outs for the power-on button, volume rocker, and earphone port. One minor setback of the case’s design is the fact that you can’t close the front cover when charging the device. You have to keep in open.

At the back part of case you can find the cut-outs for the phone’s flash, camera and speaker. On the lower part, there’s the portruding part connects the front cover to the back part of the case. This lower part made the case a bit thicker.

The case is a pleasure to hold, thanks to the premium genuine leather material. Doing so will make you realize that the case is all worth the price you had to pay for it.

Conclusion

The SPIGEN Leather Case Argos Series is an excellent case for the Galaxy S III. From the premium leather materials, to the overall built and finish of the case, you should give it a consideration if you haven’t bought a case yet for your device. The case retails for $39.99 and you can grab it from Spigen.
