Google Currents will find a permanent home on Jelly Bean devices

When Google Currents launched, it was a nice alternative to the likes of Flipboard which hadn’t arrived on Android at the time. When Flipboard finally did launch, Google Currents got one step closer to obscurity. Google isn’t about to let that happen. Therefore Google Currents has become a pre-installed app on all Android 4.1 Jelly Bean devices.

Android Central received word from Google that content creators on Google Currents are bound to get a lot more users now that Currents is becoming a required app for Google certified devices. Currents has an advantage over the likes of Flipboard because it has tablet support. Flipboard for Android is only meant to be used on smartphones at this time.

Microsoft will make the Windows Phone 8 Marketplace available for 180 countries on launch date

The Microsoft people are definitely up on their toes these days as they prepare for the launch of Windows Phone 8. To go along with the official launch of Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system is the availability of its marketplace for apps which is now being reported to become available in more than 180 countries at launch. Currently, the Windows Phone Marketplace is serving only 63 international markets.

Aside from this Microsoft is also bringing in some new features to the Marketplace. Specifically, there will now be the ability to make in-app purchases, allowing Windows Phone app developers to sell virtual goods and services aside from just their apps. Developers will be able to manage in-app purchases through a tool to be provided by Microsoft at its App Hub where apps are submitted for approval by Microsoft.

Additionally, Microsoft has also rebuilt the App Hub from the ground up – making it more scalable and robust with faster certification and improved publishing times, better reporting options and other enhancements. For enterprise users of Windows Phone 8, Microsoft built a new home called Company Hub geared for developers who specialize in developing apps specifically for use by enterprises. The list of 180 countries where the Windows Phone 8 Marketplace will become available can be found by following the via link below.

Nike+ FuelBand iPhone and iPod Touch app now integrated with Path

Nike has release an updated version of its Nike+ FuelBand app for iPhone and iPod Touch. If you own the Nike+ FuelBand running accessory, you should be using this mobile app as it talks to your device to let you see your progress by tracking each step you take and the calories you burned as you run. The update brings in one essential feature if you’re also into the social networking app – Path. With the integration, you can now sync your Nike+ FuelBand activity with your Path profile. This allows you to keep track of the places and moments where they collected their NikeFuel. With Path, you will now see a graph of progress against your goal and the Path moments related to your progress. In short, Nike+ FuelBand and Path enables you to share your daily NikeFuel goal with those people who matter to you.

Aside from the Path integration, the updated Nike+ FuelBand app also now lets you do background syncing. All you need to do to start synching is to hold down the button on the Nike+ FuelBand for 3 seconds and let the app finish your sync then notify you when the syncing is done. So, you can start syncing and do other things while the process is ongoing. Other new features included in the update are the ability to set the time via the app instead of just on your desktop, offline availability of your activity data and the ability to check your device’s battery level through the app.

Update your Nike+ FuelBand app now or get it installed on your iPhone or iPod Touch if you still haven’t done so. But make sure that you have the Nike+ FuelBand running accessory as well.
