Facebook underhandedly changes your default email address to @Facebook.com and more

Facebook underhandedly changes your default email address to @Facebook.com

In an attempt to draw more people to use an @facebook.com email address — which leads directly to your Facebook inbox — the social media website has underhandedly changed the default email address on millions of people’s Facebook page. You’d think they’d learn to, oh, I don’t know…communicate this change directly with their user base perhaps? And while this moderate transgression has, and will, continue to ruffle feathers all over the web,  the site’s manager of product communications, Meredith Chin, has cited “consistency” as the reasoning behind this change.

“We basically defaulted to show your Facebook address as we rolled this out, just to keep it consistent for everyone,” said Chin.

She went to state that Facebook would make a post if users are still confused by the new email address.

Luckily, the change has not hit every Facebook account just yet and is quite simple to adjust. Go to the “about” section of your page and click edit under “contact info.” For those of you who had an email addresses listed, you’ll now notice an additional @facebook address listed. Click on the “no” symbol and change the @facebook.com’s email preference to “hidden from timeline” as shown above. Please also make sure to take the time to adjust your other emails and have them shared with only the people you know.

Firefox for Android graduates from beta, promises faster web browsing

We just told you last week that Mozilla was expected to announce something big this week. And it looks like we were not wrong on saying that it has something to do with their Firefox Android browser. True enough, I just downloaded the app on my Galaxy S3 yesterday as I wanted to try the app. But just now, Mozilla has announced that the app is now a full-blown Android app. Meaning, the beta tag is now gone.

So, if you find the stock browser for your Android device unsatisfactory, you might want to check out Firefox for Android. It’s available now as a free download from Google Play. Mozilla promised to give us all a fast browsing experience with Firefox for Android. And among the many features of the app, perhaps the most interesting to note is what Mozilla calls – “Awesome Screen.” This according to Mozilla is powered by Firefox Sync and delivers your browsing history, bookmarks, passwords and form data to your Android phone. Firefox for Android also optimized the tabbed browsing, Firefox Sync and Firefox add-ons. In addition, you’ll also be glad to know that the browser fully supports Flash, so you can watch videos, play games and interact with more web content even while on the move.

And if browsing security is one of your major concerns, well, Mozilla assures us that Firefox for Android gives the highest level of privacy and security features in mobile browsing by respecting our privacy and protecting our security with features such as Do Not Track, Master Password, HTTP Strict Transport Security and more.

So, have you downloaded Firefox for Android? How do you find it so far? Tell us your thoughts by leaving a comment below.
