Amazon looks to improve on the original Kindle Fire design with another updated model bearing the same screen size. For those interested in a larger sized Kindle Fire, Amazon is reportedly working on a 10.1 inch model that will hit the market in early 2013. With the launch of the new $199 Amazon Kindle Fire, the previous model will receive a price cut down to $149. We’re not sure if Amazon plans on calling the newer tablet the ‘Kindle Fire 2′ or simply ‘Kindle Fire’. The newer tablet should launch in several months as Amazon prepares for another successful Holiday season with the new Kindle Fire heralded as its flagship device. Outside of the Samsung Galaxy S III, carriers are actually launching other devices. Ever since the Galaxy S III was announced, much of the chatter seems to revolve around that singular device until it launches. However, the carriers have other smartphones in the pipeline, and according to a leaked image, T-Mobile looks to be gearing up to launch the Samsung SGH-T699. While it isn’t the Galaxy Nexus, it is a capable QWERTY Slider smartphone featuring Android 4.0 out of the box. Other known specs include a 5MP rear facing camera, a front facing camera, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (either of the S3 or S4 variety). The screen size is probably around 4.0 inches, but the tipster does not make a specific mention of the screen leading me to think it is not the same HD resolution screen found in the Galaxy S III. However, it does feature a design similar to the Galaxy S III with a center button, a left menu button, and a right back button. We’re hoping to hear more information such as its pricing and availability in the coming weeks. Via [TmoNews]   Klipsch S4A Image headphones for Android Living in a world where most gadgets are “Made for iPhone,” it is refreshing to see a product developed for the many Android phone users out there. Specifically, I am referring to the Klipsch Image S4A headphones, designed to be compatible with devices running Android 2.2 or later. The headphones, when paired with the Klipsch Control app, provide the ability to customize your music-listening and calling experiences on your phone, which in my case is the HTC EVO. Downloading the app was simple and fast. Once you access the app, you have general options, including Enable Headset Control, General Settings, Volume Settings and Button Settings. After turning the Enable Headset Control option on, the user can set a preference (in General Settings) for which default music app the headphones will recognize when plugged in. I selected Pandora. While this may be a very simple action, I love how intuitive the headphones are, in that all I need to do is plug them into my phone for Pandora to launch. In Button Settings, users can configure click speeds and customize what types of clicks (single click, double click) will play/pause music, skip to next track, answer/end calls, etc., all of which worked exactly as programmed. The volume “click” or “long press” was not customizable. I found that when “long pressing,” the volume increased considerably before decreasing (when I wanted it to decrease initially). I would suggest that the increase/decrease volume options be customized, if possible, in future releases. I found the sound to be truly noise-isolating, as the company advertises (I missed some phone calls at my desk because I could not hear the phone ring, and I don’t believe I had the volume cranked all that loud). While I would characterize the sound as powerful, I would not say that it is harsh. Music was crisp, encompassing and enjoyable. Additional features include Voice Search and Voice Command, which help with a hands-free lifestyle. I would recommend this product to people on the go, who can stash the phone in a bag (like you would an iPod or mp3 device) while still maintaining full functionality of their phones. The headphones come with various size ear tips and a carrying case. They sell for $99.99 on the Klipsch website (and other retail locations), which struck me as a bit high for the average consumer. As a result, these headphones may be more attractive to an audiophile looking for a portable solution.  
Zombies, Run! has had a rather interesting life cycle up until this point. The mobile game began last year as a Kickstarter project and then was introduced for iOS devices back in March. And well, as of today — those sporting an Android device can get in on the fun. Yup, Zombies, Run! has officially come available for Android. The game can be found in the expected location — Google Play, and has arrived as version 0.9 and with support for Android 2.2 (and later). And nicely done, the price of the Android app matches the iOS price — $7.99. Anyway, we are fairly certain that may of the GadgeTell readers have at least heard of the Zombies, Run! game at some point. And for those in that crowd — the link at the bottom of this post will take you to Google Play so you can purchase, download and begin running. For those not familiar with Zombies, Run! — the game is described as being “an ultra-immersive running game and audio adventure.” Or, a bit simpler, you start the game and run (or walk) from the zombies. We recently mentioned the Evernote Web Clipper for Chrome update, and well, it looks like the Windows app has joined the recently been updated party. The latest release of Evernote for Windows is version 4.5.7 and it can be found by way of the Evernote website. This update, according to Evernote, brings “one powerful new feature in particular” — Activity Stream. This can be found by clicking the satellite dish button and once clicked, it will offer a look at what is happening in your Shared Notebooks. This will also include what is happening in notebooks that others have shared with you. “Each item in the stream includes an icon that illustrates the event, text describing what has occurred with a link to notebook, and the time that Evernote checked for updates.”
The Activity Stream will show goodies such as when a new note has been created, when a note has been deleted and when an edit has been made to an existing note. Keep in mind though, the Activity Stream will only show the most recent update, which means that if multiple updates have been made since your last visit, the stream will only highlight the newest one. Bottom line here, the Activity Stream sounds like a one-stop shop in terms of seeing what has changed or happened with your Shared Notebooks since you last checked. Those rocking The New York Times app on a Windows Phone device may want to fire up the Marketplace and download the latest. Yup, the NYTimes app has been updated and it looks like it has arrived with some welcomed new features including Live Tile integration, Pivot Navigation, Cloud integration and an “updated and refreshed” design. In addition, the app has also gotten some performance improvements and support for fast application switching. - Live Tile Integration – users can pin any of the sections and blogs as Live Tiles to quickly see the latest headlines at a glance
- Pivot Navigation – users can see articles, videos and blogs in each section
- Cloud Integration – users may save articles to the cloud for access from multiple devices
Otherwise, the NYTimes app retains the “more than” 25 sections which includes news, information and opinion, including videos, slide shows and blogs. Finally, the app also has support for offline reading as well as the ability to share stories by way of social media and email. Via [Business Wire]  
Evernote has been fairly busy with updates lately, with one of the more recent coming for the Chrome Web Clipper. The latest addition to the Web Clipper arrives as Related Notes. This means that Chrome users taking advantage of the Web Clipper to save to their Evernote account will be able to see similar notes (that they may have saved in the past). You can see the addition of the “Related Notes” section in the above image and otherwise, here is how that is described by the folks at Evernote. “Whenever you clip a Web page, in addition to saving the content to your account, you'll see a redesigned popup appear in the top right of the browser window. In this popup are two tabs. One shows Related Notes and the other shows every item that you've ever clipped from the domain that you're visiting. The Related Notes section is instantly populated with three notes from your account that are somehow related to the page that you're clipping. These Related Notes give you a glimpse into similar things that you captured or created in the past. Click on the thumbnail to jump into that note.”
The feature can also be hide by clicking the “Hide Related Notes” text toward the bottom left. This update for the Web Clipper also “improved the quality of your clips and fixed a bunch of issues.” If you are already using Chrome with the Web Clipper, it will update automatically. Microsoft has recently announced some updates in terms of the Maps application on Windows Phone devices. The update brings traffic conditions. Those with a Windows Phone device in hand can fire up the Maps application and navigate to Menu -> Show Traffic to check things out. According to Microsoft; “Depending on where you live, you might see highways and major roads change color.”
As for those seeing a change of color. Here is how they break down — green roads are good; yellow and orange roads have some congestion and red roads. Well, if you are seeing red, be prepared to spend some time in traffic. Additionally, black means that the road is closed. Basically, this seems like a thing of try and see if it is available and working in your location. Microsoft did however note that they would be introducing traffic data for selected cities in Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom sometime in the “coming weeks.” Via [Windows Phone Blog]  
Coming a bit after the iOS release, Microsoft has officially released Kinectimals for Android. The app is priced at $2.99 and available by way of Google Play. Kinectimals arrives as version 1.0 and will run on Android device with 2.2 Froyo (or later). That being said, we suspect those who will be interested are already familiar with Kinectimals from the Xbox 360, however for those new to the game, here is how it is described; “This irresistible mobile experience gives you the chance to use your phone to visit the island of Lemuria and play with, care for and fall in love with your very own cub. As we often see, smartphones will sell for less with third party retailers (as opposed to direct with the carriers). And well, it looks like that will also be the case for the Samsung Galaxy S III — at least with AT&T. At the present time, Amazon Wireless has listed the AT&T compatible Galaxy S III for pre-order. The handset is available in white or blue and with 16GB of storage. The price, $189.99 for new customers or $149.99 for current customers that are eligible for an upgrade. Granted, $10 and $50 is not the biggest savings we have seen from Amazon Wireless, but hey, we like to go by the rule that any savings is a good thing.
