The Bump app for iOS and Android received an update today that is so neat, it’s hard to not call it magic. We’ve all gotten used to how Bump can transfer images from one phone to another by simply bumping the two together, but Bump can also send photos to your computer instantly. It’s really impressive once you try it for yourself. The only thing you have to do is download Bump on your phone, visit bu.mp in your web browser, select the photo(s) you want to share and bump your phone against the spacebar on your keyboard. Once you do that, the app will ask for confirmation and display the image on your screen. It works really fast too. The reality is there is no real magic being done here. Bump requires you share your geographical location on your computer and the phone for this to work. That’s how it determines which two devices are linked. You also don’t have to literally bump your phone against the spacebar. You’ll get the same results by flicking your phone and pressing the spacebar at the same time. Revealing the man behind the curtain takes some of the thrill out, but this is still a nice feature to have. Site [Bump] Clove UK has announced that they have stock of the Nokia Lumia 610. What’s more, the device is available in black and cyan. If you want to have this phone, be prepared to spend £150 (£180 inc. VAT). That’s pretty cheap for a Windows Phone 7.5 Mango handset. And if this in any way affects your decision to get the phone, the Nokia Lumia 610 in both black and cyan are available SIM-free. Which means that you can use your existing SIM from any carrier or get a new one from the carrier of your choice. As a review, the Lumia 610 is one of the latest Windows Phone 7.5 Mango devices launched by Nokia recently. It features a 3.7-LCD display, 8GB of internal storage, 5MP camera with autofocus, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G. Finally, the Nokia Lumia 610 may be quite cheap but it’s also a pretty sturdy device and even provides access to various Nokia services including Nokia Drive and Nokia Public Transport. So if you’re planning to jump into the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango platform, the Lumia 610 seems like a pretty good option to consider. Via [Clove]
We have seen a few image samples from the Google Project Glass glasses up until this point, and well, it now like a video sample has been released. The sample is fairly short, coming in at just 15 seconds, however it was captured in 720p quality. You can view the video by clicking here and otherwise, here it to hoping we see a bit more official Project Glass details come during Google I/O (if not sooner). Recently, the Google+ team updated its Google+ Android app to include several new features and improvements. One of their bigger and prouder improvements is the fact that Hangouts can now be created and held through the mobile app. Google wants its users to be able to connect on the go, and by making Hangouts available through the Android app, users can do just that. Other improvements to the app include full-screen media while viewing the stream, efficiency with +1, and editing in-line comments and posts. There is also a new navigation bar that will accompany you on every screen in order to help sift through the social media experience quickly. Lastly, pictures can be easily downloaded from Google+ and saved to your internal memory. The Google+ Android app version 2.6 can be downloaded through the Google Play Store today. Via [Google Blog]
It is looking like Sprint has officially discontinued the Nexus S 4G. And while we have not specifically heard from the carrier, we cannot help but notice that the handset is missing from the available device lineup on the Sprint website. That being said and despite the fact that some will most likely be disappointed, this only seems fitting giving the Galaxy Nexus has been around for a while now. Needless to say, while the handset is no longer listed with Sprint, it can still be found online. The handset is still showing as available with third party retailers including Amazon Wireless and Wirefly who have it priced from $49.99 and $29.99 respectively. Via [The Verge]
There are still quite a bit of missing details. You know, the goodies such as the pricing and the release date. But that aside, it appears as if the Dell Latitude 10 details have leaked. The specs are coming by way of a leaked presentation slide and from the folks over at neowin. And while we have yet to see anything direct from Dell on this particular model, they have in the past confirmed that they will be working on a Windows 8 tablet. On that note, the Latitude 10 is just that, a Windows 8 tablet. Other goodies worth noting on the Latitude 10 tablet include a display that measures in at 10.1 inches and is capacitive in nature and sporting a resolution of 1366 x 768. The display will also have support for multi-touch and a stylus. Moving past the operating system and display and we look towards the processor, which is a dual-core Intel Atom Clover trail. Other goodies include 2GB of RAM, up to 128GB of SSD storage, options for a 2-cell (30WHr) or 4-cell (60WHr) battery, a 2 megapixel front facing camera and an 8 megapixel rear facing camera. Additionally, the Latitude 10 will have WLAN + Bluetooth and options for Mobile Broadband along with built-in speakers, a headphone/microphone jack, Intel Integrated graphics and a fingerprint reader. Lastly, the tablet is expected to measure in at 10.8 (W) x 7.0 (D) x 0.4 (H) inches and weigh in at 1.57 pounds. Via [neowin]
Those of us in the US have a three-day weekend coming up and as we often see when times like this arrive — that means some downtime. And while we suggest using some of that time to get out and enjoy the real world, we realize that many will use it to sit and play with gadgets. Maybe, say, some mobile gaming. If you fall into that category and have yet to pick up Grand Theft Auto III (on Android or iOS) — your lucky time has come. Effective immediately and running through Monday May 28th, the folks at Rockstar Games are offering GTA3 at 80 percent off. Simply put, you can get the game for $0.99 this weekend. While we have yet to get any official confirmation, it looks like some indirect actions have confirmed the Canadian release date of the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone. The details are coming by way of the MobileSyrup tech blog who received a leaked image showing a release date of June 20th. And while the screenshot by itself does not offer much in terms of confirmation, they [MobileSyrup] were asked to remove the image. And that portion hints at the accuracy. Of course, that logic still involves a bit of speculation. That aside though, the image noted that the Galaxy S III was coming “this Summer” and would be arriving with various carriers to include Bell, Telus, Wind, Videotron, Mobilicity, SaskTel, Virgin Mobile and Rogers. Bottom line, we now have a believable Galaxy S III release date for Canada. Now we just need to start seeing some official confirmations from the respective carriers. Via [MobileSyrup]
Flickr has continued on the update and improve path. The latest goodies come for those using Flickr Groups and include a new image view, new options when using the Uploadr tool and some API goodies. Beginning first with the new view, this one arrives as a Justified View. Simply put, Flickr users will now be able to view Flickr Groups images in a Justified View. And along with the new Justified view, Flickr has also added a new sidebar within that view. Moving to the rest of the changes. This next comes for those using the Flickr Uploadr tool to upload images. Moving forward you will now be able to upload images directly to your Groups using the Uploadr. This comes thanks to the newly added, “Add to Group” option in the editing panel and will upload any checked images to the group along with your photostream. Finally, the API changes. This will allow those using the API to include items such as the ability to interact with group discussions such as reading topics and replies, and posting to group discussions as well as join and quit groups.
