Rogers looks to add another device to its growing LTE network. Dummy units of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE have already arrived to Rogers retail stores across Canada, thus implying a launch is in the near future. With the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE already available through Bell and Telus, now Rogers customers will soon be able to enjoy the Android 3.2 running Galaxy Tab 8.9. One of the main features of Samsung’s latest Galaxy Tab is its LTE connectivity, and that will be a big selling point for Rogers and Samsung. In addition, it features an 8.9 inch touch screen display, 1GB of RAM, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 3MP rear facing camera, 2MP front facing camera, Android 3.2, and WiFi. While exact pricing has not been released, you can expect the tablet to launch for $650 off contract. Naturally, it will be available for cheaper if subsidized by Rogers on contract. Again, it will launch very soon and we should learn of the exact pricing information when the launch occurs. Via [MobileSyrup]   If you ever found yourself trying to figure out how to share a fairly large file with a Facebook friend, you’re going to want to hear about Pipe. Pipe is an upcoming Facebook application that will let users transfer files to each other that are up to 1GB.
According to GigaOM, Pipe is going to start beta testing on Monday. Sign-ups are currently being accepted on Pipe’s website. iOS and Android apps are also in the works. We can expect the Pipe app to be available on Android after iOS has had its fill. Pipe isn’t looking to turn Facebook into a huge file sharing network. In fact, files can only be exchanged between two people. There will be no seeding and leaching here. As GigaOM points out, there’s no telling when Facebook will launch an official file sharing feature of its own. Two men named Dodd Harris and Stephen Sabatino are engaging Google in a lawsuit over what their complaint says are “unfair and fraudulent business practices” involving Google Play. The plaintiffs purchased apps from Google Play only to discover they did not work properly. Now they want Google to pay on the behalf of anyone that has experienced something similar. Here’s how it all started. Harris purchased an application called Learn Chinese Mandarin Pro from Google Play (then known as the Android Market) in December of 2011. Harris soon discovered the app was not working properly, but couldn’t obtain a refund because the 15-minute limit Google places on refunds had expired. The other plaintiff purchased an app called aBTC in January of this year and couldn’t get it to work either. “Google took no steps whatsoever to implement any procedures to ensure that Applications performed as they were represented on the Google Play Store,” the complaint reads. The lawsuit also points out how the Amazon Appstore and the Apple App Store implement a review process before making apps available to the general public. Google Play however has no such policy. “Google’s complete failure to monitor the Google Play Store is evidenced by its inability to prevent Developers from offering products for sale that contain malicious spyware.” This lawsuit only further highlights Android’s massive fragmentation problem. As a Roku user, I am personally waiting for the Roku Streaming Stick to come available. But that bit aside, it looks like an updated Roku HD player has been spotted in an FCC filing. No word yet on a release date, however the filing did reveal some details — along with an image which can be seen above. The pictured set-top box is sporting a look similar to that of the currently available Roku 2 HD. Of course, those looking closely will notice a few differences. For example, the Roku HD has composite outputs, which strangely enough were on the original Roku HD, but not on the Roku 2 HD. Additionally, this model seems to have dropped the memory card slot. But on the bright side, it looks like this model will be shipping with the Roku remote that sports the quick launch buttons. Of course, those using a Roku with an iOS or Android device handy, remember — there are apps for that (iOS and Android). We had recently heard that Pinterest was getting ready to offer updated profile pages on the web and an iPad app. And well, it looks like one of those two goodies have arrived. That said, those who surf on over to the Pinterest website will see the updated profile pages. Simply put, the Pinterest profile pages are now sporting a more streamlined look. And while the pages are much nicer to look at, we suspect many users are still hoping to see the iPad app come available. Of course, while trying to stay on the bright side, at least you can visit the website and make sure your profile page is up to date and spiffy looking while you wait for the iPad app to arrive in the iOS App Store. It looks like PayPal has announced a competitor to Square. The new service is called PayPal Here and while it has been officially announced and detailed, it is not yet available for anyone or everyone to start using. That said, you can visit the PayPal Here website and choose to sign up for more information. This setup will seem familiar to those who are already using (or have researched) mobile phone credit card processing. In the case of PayPal Here, those who sign up will get access to a free smartphone app (available for the iPhone and coming soon for Android) along with a “fully encrypted thumb-sized reader” that will allow you to swipe cards. The Here service will allow merchants to accept debit and credit cards along with checks and PayPal. Additionally, it will allow the merchant to send invoices. And here is the part that many are most likely wondering — the cost. According to details provided by PayPal, the Here service offers a “competitive fee structure with no monthly account or set-up fees.” Simply put, PayPal Here charges a flat rate of 2.7 percent for card swipes and PayPal payments. Coming by way of the official Hulu Blog, we have some big news. Well, some news that Hulu is now bigger anyway. It seems that the web version of the Hulu video player has been updated and is now bigger in size. And in addition to the new larger size, a few other tweaks were also made. That being said, here is how this all breaks down; - The web video player is now 55 percent larger
- The web video player now sits on a new video matte
- The web video player has a new frame and drop shadow
- The episode name and title have been changed, Hulu “cleaned up the pattern and style for a cleaner, crisper look”
- Sitting below the metadata are several links for quicker access to the show details along with social media sharing, commenting and “more”

Evernote app for iOS has just been updated, bringing the app’s version to 4.1.9. The update not only brought some new features but more importantly, the app is now ready for the Retina display of the new iPad. According to the Evernote blog, every aspect of Evernote now looks sharper, crisper and more vibrant. The folks at Evernote have been upgrading all their graphics and interfaces to look more beautiful on the new iPad. The only left now is to wait for the arrival of the iPad to test how the app will work and display on the new iPad’s display screen. Aside from being optimized for the new iPad, Evernote app also now have better checkboxes and text editing. The app’s note editor is now more responsive and realiable than in the past especially for the iPad version. For both iPhone and iPad models, a new feature for suggesting note titles was introduced. When you type in a title for a note that you are creating, the app will show a matching lists of previously used title. This suits you well especially if you reuse note titles often. We already know that Sprint is going to be releasing the Galaxy Nexus smartphone. In fact, we have already seen Sprint launch the coming soon style teaser page. Not to mention, those rumors that were pegging the release as coming sometime in early-April. And well, there may be something to that early-April time after all. We have not gotten anything from Sprint just yet, however the Sprint compatible Galaxy Nexus has recently made the required FCC appearance. The listing shows a Galaxy Nexus that will arrive with support for the 850 / 1900 CDMA bands along with NFC and Bluetooth. In addition, it looks like the Galaxy Nexus will also have support for LTE.
