Voice controls in Android smartphones are not new. Google implemented voice controls into Android a long time ago and there are third-party applications that take advantage of this feature quite well. But ever since Siri came around, it has created this strange new urge to talk to your phone. The reason why Siri is so popular isn’t because it’s comprised of new technology. Siri is popular because it has a personality. You can have fun with Siri while constantly saying “I can’t believe she said that!” to yourself. There isn’t something quite like Siri on Android, but Dexetra is working… Full Story » | Written by Jeremy Hill for . | Comment on this Article »

One of the biggest features in the iOS 5 update is Twitter support. iOS devices have gone beyond using Twitter applications by making Twitter a part of the operating system itself. It’s now possible to tweet links to websites right from Safari without the need for any external application. Developers can update their apps to add this functionality as well. This seems to have been a good partnership between Apple and Twitter because one-third of compatible devices have upgraded to iOS 5, and Twitter has seen an influx of sign ups stemming from iOS 5. Twitter’s CEO Dick Costolo said… Full Story » | Written by Jeremy Hill for . | Comment on this Article »

While Mint.com had already released their iOS app some time back, it has only been available for the iPhone. That being said, many dedicated users (myself included) have been waiting and hoping for quite some time that an iPad app would make its way into the iOS App Store. And well, it looks like that actually may be happening sooner rather than later. Though, before anyone gets super excited, we should say that while we have seen some general information coming from one of the developers, we still have nothing solid in terms of exactly when. When it comes to a pro-level camera, Canon’s 1D Mark and 1Ds Mark II cameras have been the king of Canon line up for quite some time now. Canon now deems it the right time to introduce a new mighty digital SLR, so let’s all welcome the Canon EOS-1D Digital SLR camera. From the outside, this camera might seem pretty familiar especially for those who’ve owned previous 1D models. While we have seen some rather interesting (and amazing) demonstrations with Siri up until this point, it looks like something else may be happening. According to a recent posting over at Fury.com, Siri may be sharing that cute little nickname you gave yourself. According to the details given, that nickname is being saved in your contact card and then later given out if you send your information by way of a vCard. That said, just like anything else, things that are thought to be private somehow have a way of becoming public. Only UK residents can test the service right now, but Vdio will most likely find its way to the United States in due time since it has an office in Santa Monica, CA. Very little is known about Vdio, but a Q&A sent to GigaOM answers at least a few questions. Vdio is a service that lets users instantly watch movies and TV shows. Vdio’s website has images from… Full Story » | Written by Jeremy Hill for . | Comment on this Article »
