Section: Business News, Gadgets / Other, ebooks Those looking for a little not-so-light weekend reading can go ahead and download the latest release from the White House. It would appear as if the White House has released the Economic Report of the President as an ebook. The 2010 Report includes an overview by the President of the Administration's economic policies and goals, a 300-page analysis of the Administration's first year and over 100 pages of key economic statistics. Now the 2010 Report isn't just more convenient, it's also more environmentally friendly. The book can be downloaded for the Kindle or nook (both auto-delivered) as well as in an ePub format for the likes of the Sony Reader. Best of all, the 400+ page read is available as a free download. Interestingly enough, the book has already reached #17 in the Kindle Store. Of course, it is a free book and I am sure that is at least partially to blame. Unfortunately, other than the little tease, which you can clearly see above, we have little other details. Though we are looking forward to seeing what else they have to tell everyone. As of now, the HTC HD2 is expected to be available with T-Mobile in March, but in the meantime we now have next week to look forward to. Maybe we are going to get a release date announcement. With Slacker you can choose to listen using a free account, or step up to a Radio Plus account for $4.99 a month. The free service is pretty decent overall. And as much as I hate to say it, the talk of budget cuts almost seems normal now. Except in the case of the Lake County Jail cutting back the inmates Netflix subscription. Yes, it seems that the Lake County Jail was ordering up Netflix for the inmates as a weekend perk. Of course, it was pointed out in that they “weren’t perks for the inmates so much as an activity that helped guards maintain order.” Either way, they were getting Netflix. “But the curtain has been dropped on the perk now that the jail’s $35 monthly Netflix subscription has been canceled—a tiny portion of the $2 million in budget cuts that Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran disclosed Thursday.” Now keep in mind, with the jail or any place that would be showing the movies to large groups there is more to this than just a low-monthly subscription fee. In this case it turns out that hey were paying a $35 monthly subscription fee as well as a $5,000 to $6,000 annual licensing fee. Don’t get all too excited though, Channel News Australia was told that the netbook won’t be rolling out any time soon, until later this year.
